PURPOSEGIRL POWER is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization located in Miami, Florida whose mission is to empower young girls and their families to succeed in order to protect, restore and preserve the family unit. Through collaborative programming with schools and other community-based organizations, we provide educational, social and mentoring opportunities to enhance the academic performance, community connections, and career options of the young girls.The Mentoring Coordinator oversees the development and implementation of the Sister Circle Mentoring Program, funded by the Children’s Trust, which matches adult volunteer mentors with a mentee for one-to-one and group activities. The Mentoring Program Coordinator ensures program quality and performance related to recruiting, screening, matching, monitoring, counseling, troubleshooting issues that arise, resolving any conflicts, tracking progress and closing the relationship with the mentor and mentee. The role includes frequent communication with all participants involved (the mentors, parents/guardians, mentees), in addition to community partners and funders. QUALIFICATIONS• Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in social work, psychology, and/or education and/or two or more years of experience in mentoring and youth development, working within community organizations and/or schools preferred• Familiar with non-profit organization operations• Passion for working with youth and building communities in Miami-Dade County• Experience working in racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse urban communities• Positive, compassionate attitude towards girls suffering from emotional, physical and sexual abuse as well as knowledge of other adversities facing at-risk youth• Strong written and verbal communication skills• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook• Good social skills with the ability to establish community partnerships• Works well independently in a fast-paced environment• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task• Creativity and flexibility are essential in assuming significant responsibility • Eager to learn and seek personal development opportunities• English and Creole or Spanish speaking/writing strongly preferred• Must have a valid driver’s license and access to consistent, reliable transportation• Pass a criminal background checkRESPONSIBILITIES1. Oversee and manage all aspects of the Sister Circle Mentoring Program 2. Recruit, interview, screen, orient, train, match, monitor and track progress of professional female mentors partnered with at risk 11-17 year old female mentees in the Miami-Dade County Liberty City, Over-town and Little Haiti areas3. Ensure the Sister Circle Mentoring Program meets all requirements as a provider of The Children’s Trust 4. Achieve measurable outcomes with pre and post relationship surveys, pre and post life-skills surveys, GPA and attendance tracking through MDPS report cards of each student participant 5. Plan, coordinate and supervise monthly mentoring events educationally themed to compliment mentoring program objectives to include a kickoff event, workshops, fieldtrips, retreats, mentor socials and an end of the year award ceremony6. Perform monthly quality support check-ins to each and every participant in the program 7. Assist in oversight of community outreach, resource development and public awareness strategies for the organization 8. Attend internal and external meetings as required 9. Comply with WLC/GP policies and procedures including confidentiality and equal opportunities in all aspect of work10. As an absolute condition, must sign a drug and tobacco free workplace agreement11.
