Description:
The Materials & Logistics Manager will manage all aspects of inventory, procurement, sourcing, and movement of materials to the customer through the supply chain and will identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for logistics and materials including sources and costs.Key responsibilities include:• Takes direction from various sources, prioritizes personal and departmental tasks to meet the division business objectives and optimize opportunities to improve cost, quality, delivery performance, department efficiencies and overall service• Drives the development and cultivation of positive business relationships with the company's internal customers and external vendors, directs performance reviews in order to identify improvement opportunities and to manage costs• Review, analyze and interpret on-hand inventory balances and product availability of commonly used items to improve cost, reduce lead times, and ensure that all materials, supplies and services are available for all projects and operational activities• Ensures that robust and effective programs, practices and procedures are in place that minimizes disruptions to production due to material flow problems• Controls inventory levels by using control processes including cycle counting, overall inventory accuracy, on-alance accuracy, inventory analysis, WIP accuracy, accounting interface, and financial reporting in support of monthly corporate financial reporting activity• Works closely with suppliers on issues affecting the order flow process by forecasting delays, product issues, or other situations that could impact schedule• Minimizes inventory on the production floor by utilizing Kaisen, Kanbon and Demand Pull systems• Coordinates gap analysis to ensure missing items are filled for production• Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocolsSkills/ RequirementsRequirements:• A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or Production and Operations Planning• Minimum of seven (7) years related progressive experience in materials and logistics management with at least three (3) years in supervising subordinate employees• Advanced experience in commodity buying of different metals (steel, stainless steel, etc)• Advanced experience in materials cost management and reduction in cost planning / project management• Advanced analytical skills to record expenditures and supply and performance data, and to adapt working strategy when necessary• Intermediate experience with supplier contract agreements, subassembly outsourcing, lean manufacturing environment, new product introduction prototype inventories• Intermediate experience in negotiations to secure favorable contractual terms• Intermediate experience in costing BOM's and impact to pricing• Intermediate experience working with Oracle, JD Edwards ERP system• Demonstrated ability in prioritizing tasks and time management• Intermediate experience understanding and interpreting technical specifications• Must be a self-starter who is team orientated and possesses above average verbal and written communication skills• Professional certifications desired CPIM, CSCP, CPM, CPSM, or CSMImportant NotesWill be required to pass a thorough background check and drug screen.
