Job Summary The Digital/Outdoor Reporter performs a wide variety of reporting assignments. Covering a “beat” and may work investigative articles and in-depth series which may have regional/national significance. Covers special assignments and regularly seeks out far-reaching story ideas, human-interest pieces and sidebars. Develops and maintains a wide array of contacts within various areas of the community.Job Functions• Reports on assigned stories using a variety of digital platforms.• Seeks out new and different stories. • Crafts accurate and timely stories and meets submission deadlines.• Develops community contacts.• Protect confidential information and sources.Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have the following education, work experience, and abilities: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism preferred; a combination of similar degree(s) and equivalent hands on experience acceptable  Experience and Knowledge - -Two years successful experience working at a daily paper preferred. o Must have strong news judgment, organizational skills, and ability to work well under pressure are vital. Technology Skills - - Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including demonstrated experience in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must be comfortable using a wide array of multi-media tools during the story-telling process, including still pictures, video, blogging and social media. Natural Focus on Customer Service Excellence - - commitment to consistently deliver high quality work products and services in a timely and cost effective manner. Communication Skills - - Strong verbal, organizational and written communication.  Strong Work Ethic - - Has a self-starting nature and conscientious and diligent work ethic, a demonstrated flexibility and integrity, and a collaborative style with the objective of building strong relationships with diverse customer groups. Schedule - - This position requires candidate to work flexible hours, including holidays, nights and weekends.
