The Digging Coordinator is responsible for taking care of the Healthy Growing school gardens, making sure they're sustainable, and working with the schools to implement garden related lesson plans as needed.Due to the flexibility, infrastructure, and creativity that this role provides, this is a volunteer position. This role can help you achieve your gardening hours for certification, give you some of your own plots to cultivate, or just be an opportunity for you to give back to your local schools and community. It will be your duty to promote healthy living by cultivating a healthy environment, with the "farm to table" concept in mind, and inspire students to be environmental thinkers.the responsibilities include: Plan and Design school gardens with School Garden Committee. Consult and/or facilitate gardening schedule to include planting, maintenance, and harvesting. Support Healthy Growing Classroom and/or Garden Club as needed. Work with School Garden Club to develop long term sustainable garden plan. the qualifications: Gardening experience - organic practices desired. Experience working with kids. Excellent communication skills & very personable. Flexible. Dedicated. Team player. Punctual; good time management. Innovative. Resourceful problem solver that thinks out of the box. Reporting to: Healthy Planet CEOLocation: San Francisco, CA Hours of work: 2 days per/week, flexible daysStart Date: Jan 2012
