Major NYC Top-Tier International Law Firm Debt Capital Markets Associate Attorney - 1+ years relevant experience - London Office The Role: The Capital Markets group in London operates by way of a single broad based group that advises on equity, debt and structured finance. While associates may choose to focus more on one kind of product than the other, we encourage our associates not to over-specialise, particularly at the early stage of their careers, and to learn to manage both equity and debt offerings. The team works hand in hand with the US securities law associates in the London office, and we operate as a single fully integrated team of English and US lawyers. The English capital markets team also works closely with the English corporate group and, to the extent desired, capital markets associates are able to work on more general corporate matters, particularly those who have chosen to focus on equity capital markets work. Almost all our work is multi-jurisdictional, and will usually require foreign travel, since our issuer clients tend to be based around Europe, the CIS, the Middle East and Africa. The firm continues to grow; this growth has been acute in London where we now have over 120 lawyers. In the past five years, the London office has seen eight promotions to partnership and eleven counsel promotions as well as five lateral partner hires. This coupled with our continued high quality work flow is driving the need for further associate hires Person Specification: We are looking for an individual with 1+ years relevant experience. The successful individual will have trained at a leading City law firm and undertaken at least one seat in their firm's Capital Markets group. They will have experience with an emphasis on Debt Capital Markets work. Excellent written communication and drafting skills are essential, as well as the ability to demonstrate initiative. Early responsibility is ensured within a fast-paced and challenging environment. A first-class academic record is essential. The Department: The firm's European capital markets group, comprising lawyers in London, Moscow, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich and Vienna, focuses on providing legal advice to governmental, corporate and investment banking clients on a variety of capital markets transactions, including initial public offerings, rights offerings, high-yield financings, offerings of regulatory capital and other hybrid securities and other global equity and debt offerings. We have advised on many of the largest capital markets offerings, privatisations and secondary placements, as well as on smaller public transactions and private placements, including Rule 144A and Regulation S offerings. We advise clients in nearly every country in the greater European region, in the CIS (with a particular focus on Russia), in the Middle East and in Africa, providing transactional and compliance advice in connection with securities offerings under the European Prospectus Directive and US Rule 144A and Regulation S, listings on the major European and US stock exchanges.
