Start your career as a teacher in New York City through an innovative Master’s Degree program! www.NYCUTR.org The New Visions for Public Schools–Hunter College Urban Teacher Residency (UTR) and Math and Science Residency (MASTER) are teacher training programs that fully integrate the graduate coursework of the aspiring Teacher Resident with intensive, hands-on experiences in schools. If you are passionate about public education and are interested in teaching Special Education, English, Science or Math,please consider becoming a teacher through a clinically based graduate program. Key features include: • Residents spend a full school year collaborating with a trained mentor teacher in a strong New York City public school• Residents take graduate courses at Hunter College specifically designed by New Visions and Hunter College to align with experiences in urban schools• MASTER Residents get hands-on experiences at the New York Hall of Science; opportunities to test hypotheses and conduct experiments in a world-class museum dedicated to making Science and Math both enjoyable and instructive• Successful completion of the program results in a Master’s Degree in Education and certification to teach Special Education or English Language Arts in New York City• Residents receive assistance in finding a long-term job, and are asked to commit to 4 yrs of teaching in NYC• Residents do not pay any tuition during their residency year and receive a $22,500 stipend and health care coverage For the 2013-2014 Residency, the Urban Teacher Residency will be preparing 40 residents in Special Education and English for Grades 7-12, and the Math and Science Teacher Residency will be preparing 25 residents in Math, Biology, Chemistry and Earth Science. The priority application deadline for the 2013-2014 cohort is January 1, 2013.The final deadline is January 31.
