Position Summary: Works with Information Systems and Business staff to plan, develop, test, and document programs to support business objectives. Individual will provide programming and procedural support as required throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Duties and Responsibilities: • Evaluates user / business requests for new or modified computer programs to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system, and computer capabilities. Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives. Assists users to solve operating problems. • Prepares flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps program must follow and to describe logical operations involved. • Converts project specifications into sequence of detailed instructions and logical steps for program coding. • Designs user interfaces to accomplish goals of user request. Enters programming code into computer system. Enters commands into computer to run and test programs. Installs and tests programs. . Monitors performance of programs after implementation. • Analyze computer code to detect syntax or logic errors during program test. Utilize diagnostic software to detect errors. • Alters program to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements. Replaces, deletes, or modifies codes to correct errors. • Writes documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections. . Trains users to use programs and provides technical assistance. Writes manual for users to describe installation and operating procedures. Recreates steps taken by user to locate source of problem and rewrites program to correct errors. Reads manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn ways to develop programs that meet user requirements. • Perform operational duties to support the Information Systems Departments objectives. Monitor Jobs to ensure their successful completion. Perform maintenance for scheduled and unscheduled jobsSkills and Abilities:• Demonstrates ability/experience identifying requirements and leading small scale development projects. • Must have a working knowledge of a SDLC and Project Life Cycle methodologies. Formulates plan outlining steps required to develop program and submits plan to users for approval. • Applies the concepts of System Acceptance and User Acceptance Testing during development process. • Provide clear documentation for implementations. Ensures back out plans are addressed and documented. Programming Languages: Java, JDK1 6, PL/SQL, Oracle Forms, J2EE Technologies: Servlets, JSP, EJB, JDBC, JPA, JFC/Swing, RMI, Java Server Faces, Struts, Web Services, JMS Queues, Java Web Start, XML. Application Servers: Weblogic 10.3, JBOSS.Databases: Oracle 10g, 11g. Web Servers: Apache, Tomcat. Operating Systems: Windows Server 2008, Windows XP, Linux SUSE/Oracle - Experience with Oracle Retail products – RMS, RDW, RESA, ORPOS, ORRM, RPM - Experience with UC4 Appworx job scheduling products. Minimum Requirements: Education: Associates degree in a related field preferred. Licenses/Certification/Registration: None Experience: 5 to 8 years related work experience. Regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills. May train others in functional area and interact with others across the company and/or externally. May make presentations to department or middle management. In-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures with ability to use in varied situations.
