Location Brooklyn, New York Shift: Evening (United States of America) Description: Unit Clerk - Float - Part-Time Evenings Make a lasting first impression on a Brooklyn Methodist nursing unit-meeting and greeting patients and family members in need of a compassionate ear and calm direction. Provide compassionate patient focus and superior customer service-keeping our fast-paced environments running smoothly. Coordinate appointments and perform general clerical duties at the unit nursing station to assure the timely, efficient and accurate flow of patient information. Welcome and direct visitors and hospital colleagues to appropriate areas. Page nurses and answer phones on your unit. Sign for important medical deliveries. Cultivate a courteous and respectful demeanor while multitasking between people and responsibilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Duties include: answering telephone, distributing mail to patients, taking and relaying messages, beeping and paging personal, requesting patient services such as telephone, television and making clinic appointments Puts patient record together and maintains chart in good condition through proper filing of reports and adding pages as needed; label each sheet in patient record. Delivers Discharge Notices to all discharged or potentially discharged patients. Assembles discharged patient charts; removes all chart forms from binder. Float to all units- - Med-Surg- Critical Care-Psychiatry- Emergency Department This is a part-time evening position (3:30PM-12 Midnight) 5 shifts bi-weekly with weekends at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Preferred Criteria Experience in a healthcare environment Knowledge of Cerner and Eagle Required Criteria High School Diploma or Equivalency Minimum of one-year previous clerical experience Knowledge of computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and courteously with staff, patients, and visitors Join a healthcare system where employee engagement is at an all-time high.
