Investigators within Medicaid Fraud conduct criminal investigations into health care providers suspected of defrauding the Minnesota Medicaid program. The investigator reviews complaints against public health care providers; evaluates and analyzes claims data, medical records, and financial records; conducts research and surveillance; interviews victims, witnesses, and targets of investigations; participates in the execution of search warrants; drafts reports summarizing investigative findings; and works with attorneys to prepare cases for prosecution. Investigators are required to testify about their findings at criminal jury trials.In addition to the above responsibilities the Lead Investigator - Auditor: Has familiarity with, or the ability to quickly gain familiarity with, the most complex aspects of the division's case work; Works closely with the Investigative Supervisor to onboard, train, mentor, and supervise the work of new or less experienced investigators; Reviews and monitors complex financial data including restitution and other payment information; Leads responses to audits from outside entities; Reviews and summarizes incoming referrals from state agencies, health insurance companies, law enforcement agencies, and other referral sources; and Completes complex, detailed annual statistical reporting to federal entities overseeing the division's grant funding. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and at least two years demonstrable similar experience OR at least six years demonstrable similar experience Ability to perform assigned job responsibilities with a high level of professionalism Proven ability to display excellent judgement, character, and work ethic Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Excellent analytical, writing, and organizational skills Demonstrated experience: Participating in the training of new employees Working with complex statistical databases Auditing financial records Implementing organizational policies and procedures Working in a multidisciplinary partnership with other entities such as state agencies and law enforcement agencies Ability to travel to counties throughout the state Preferred Qualifications Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, Somali, or other relevant language for Minnesota Experience leading complex investigations Management or supervisory experience Education or experience in of the following fields: accounting or finance; economics or statistics; criminal justice, law enforcement, or investigations; healthcare or nursing Why Work For Us Working together to improve the state we love.
