Recreation Therapist/ Therapeutic Activities Coordinator Bangor , Maine , United States - Therapeutic Recreation - Full-time Apply by: June 30, 2024 Apply with Linkedin Apply Opening Date: May 31, 2024Closing Date: June 30, 2024Job Class Code: 4120 Grade: 23 Salary: $23.60 - $31.63/hr.** ** This is inclusive of a .60 -/hr. institutional stipend Job duties: This is professional services work, within the therapeutic services department, in providing group and individual treatment and therapeutic activities for residents at Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center in Bangor Maine. Responsibilities include: Working within a multi-disciplinary team to best meet the patients holistic needs. Organizing, administering, and presenting treatment and therapeutic activities that make a contribution to a resident's recovery. Reporting the physical, mental, and social condition of the patient, both verbally and in writing. Providing coordination of staff to best meet patient needs when the direct supervisor is not available. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, or related field and certification from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or one (1) year experience in a therapeutic recreation program. Agency information: Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (DDPC) (https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/ddpc) is a 69-bed psychiatric hospital serving the entire State of Maine that provides services for people with severe mental illness. As a member of a statewide community of care givers, DDPC collaborates with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, their community and personal supports, to provide recovery-oriented, respectful, compassionate, and effective psychiatric care and treatment in the least restrictive, safest, and most therapeutic environment we can create. The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) (https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/) is dedicated to promoting health, safety, resilience, and opportunity for Maine people. The Department provides health and social services to approximately a third of the State's population, including children, families, older Mainers, and individuals with disabilities, mental illness, and substance use disorders. The Department also promotes public health, operates two state psychiatric hospitals, and provides oversight to health care providers.
