CORE VALUES: Accountability, Collaboration, Excellence, Innovation, Integrity POSITION SUMMARY This internship position offers a beneficial opportunity to gain experience in and contribute to a non-profit environment. The Childcare Program Intern is responsible for overseeing activities to ensure performance and compliance with the contract according to federal, state, program, and regional expectations and requirements. The role includes conducting research, collecting, and analyzing statistical data, evaluating systems policies and procedures, providing technical assistance and services to agency contractors and service providers, and making recommendations to achieve organizational goals and objectives. This position requires discretion and independent judgement on matters of significance related to the management of business operations of the agency. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Initiate, develop and manage projects and programs, formulate broad perspectives, reach sound conclusions, and make recommendations. Assist in the design, development and implementation of special projects and quality initiatives including contracting for services, coordination with partners and evaluation of effectiveness. Ensure performance and compliance with contracts according to federal, state, program, and regional expectation and requirements, overseeing activities and ensure the accurate completion of reports by the contractor. Manage data collection, compilation, and data input, review data and ensuring accuracy and completeness of documents. Prepare written summaries of findings and recommendations. Respond professionally, and promptly to requests for information, clarification, and assistance. Use computer applications and management information systems effectively. Interpret planning and program objectives publicly and to groups. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Board and Contractor Staff, representatives of outside agencies, Chief Elected Officials, and the public. Assist with meeting preparation, including creating presentations and taking minutes. INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS U.S Citizen 18 years of age High School Diploma; actively pursuing a 4-year degree in Early Childhood, or related field. Must be able to meet background and drug screening requirements. Available for a 4-month internship with the potential for extension up to 12-months. Must be able to work on-site for a minimum of 20 hours per week with a consistent schedule. Must present transcripts prior to a formal offer. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES Preferred knowledge in Childcare Services (CCS) Quality Improvement Activities and initiatives, education, workforce development programs, human services programs, or non-profit organizations. Working knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, rules, regulations, and policies applicable to Texas workforce center systems operations including Quality Improvement Assurance of Childcare provider network is a plus. Proficiency in computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software. Knowledge and experience in business letter writing, grammar and punctuation, and report preparation is a plus. Ability to follow complex instructions, analyze information, develop solutions, and ensure positive outcomes. instructions. Proven data entry work experience or records maintenance.
