Research and Development Manager

Description:
DUTIES: Responsible for leading R&D teams focused on developing new technologies, products, and manufacturing processes for Endoscopy devices. Manage a team of R&D engineers developing the next generation endoscopic accessory devices focusing on stent platforms, a subset of Boston Scientific Endoscopy Product Offerings which includes the Wallflex platform. Responsible for: managing performance of engineers, coaching and developing individual contributors, assessing feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, and equipment; coordinating, managing, and documenting project goals and progress and recommending appropriate revisions; selecting techniques to solve complex problems and making sound design recommendations; Summarizing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from complex test results; Designing and coordinating complex engineering tests and experiments; Training and giving work directions to technicians and entry-level engineers; Designing and preparing complex reports to communicate results to the technical community; Interfacing with physicians and Endoscopy personnel to obtain feedback on concepts and the performance of new devices; Translating customer needs into product requirements and design specifications; preparing budgets, timelines, and resourcing plans to support new projects. Will manage a team of 4-10 employees. May require to travel/telecommute. REQUIREMENTS: Employer requires a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical field plus 6 months experience in job offered, Sr. Research and Development Engineer, Sr. Process Development Engineer, or related occupation. Experience must include: 1) Medical Device Industry Design controls (Design Inputs, Design Outputs, Design Freeze, Design Verification, Design validation, risk management), 2) Statistics and data analysis, 3) Process development skills (test method validation, process characterization & validation, Mfg. equipment & technology assessment, DFM, PFMEA), 4) Disclosures and Intellectual Property submissions/process, 5) Systems/software (PDP, TDP, Minitab, Windchill, Success Factors, Kronos, SAP, eCAPA, VIPs, COGS model), 6) Design Review process, and 7) Providing technical leadership during the development of medical devices to a team of 3-5+ engineers with project budgets ranging between 1- 4 $million and 8) Design and development of medical device components and/or systems.
