Notice of Vacancy - Deadline Extension Reference Number : DOE-032-24 Title : Education Planner (Regional Coordinator) Two Positions Range/Title Code : P22/72622 Salary : $62,836.72 - $89,042.11 Position Number: TBD Issue Date : 5/13/2024 Closing Date : 6/18/2024 Core Hours of Operation: 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Location : Trenton, New Jersey Division : Division of Legal and External Services, Amistad Commission Description Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Amistad Commission, performs professional planning of educational programs; Interprets and prepares data for managerial decisions; Assists in the development of proposals and reports on special educational problems, programs, or innovations. The Education Planner/Regional Coordinator will be responsible for the tracking, planning, coordination of all Amistad related initiatives within the respective region of the state of New Jersey including, but not limited to engagement with County Superintendents, District Superintendents, School Boards, and leadership (principals) of individual New Jersey public schools; Will work collaboratively with all educational and community agencies within their respective region as well as the central office in Trenton. The candidate will also serve as a liaison between the Amistad Commission central office and the regional assignment; Identify effective programs which contribute to professional development of New Jersey teachers within an assigned region; Provide tools and resources to districts to ensure that teachers have sufficient support to infuse the history of Africans and African Americans into the K-12 curriculum in Social Studies, World History and other subject areas; performs other related work as required. Requirements Note: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester-hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience. Seven (7) years of professional experience in the field of program planning and development, which shall have included responsibilities for the research, negotiation, and writing of proposals for such programs. or Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; and three (3) years of the above-mentioned professional experience. Note: “Professional experience” refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment and make accurate and informed decisions Preferred Education/Experience Master’s degree in Education with a concentration in American History/African American History.
