CCCN seeks a part-time Program Assistant for the Eat Well Play Hard in Child Care Settings (EWPHCCS) Farm to Preschool initiative. EWPHCCS is a childhood obesity prevention intervention administered by the NYS Department of Health Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and funded by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) initiative. The Farm to Preschool Program Assistant will assist in organizing and running seasonal farm stands at child care centers in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Responsibilities:• Work outside at farm stand sites• Assist in set up and breakdown of all equipment including tents, tables, and cooking equipment• Interact with and assist customers• Assist in distributing educational materials and giveaway items to participants• Assist with cooking demos as needed• Assist with maintaining sales records on-site• Assist in creating educational materials and displays for childcare centers• Support centers in their gardening projects• Interact with children from childcare programs Qualifications:• Early Childhood/Nutrition/Community Health courses or related field• Knowledge/experience of childcare programs• Minimum 2 years work experience• Excellent communication skills• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds• Willingness to work outdoors in inclement weather (summer into fall)• Ability to provide own transportation to market sites• Able to feel comfortable speaking to and working with preschool-aged children• Bilingual preferred• Maintain active ServSafe certification Compensation: $20 hourly About Company: Child Care Council of Nassau (CCCN) is dedicated to empowering families with the guidance and resources needed to find high-quality childcare services, fostering the growth of innovative early childhood education in homes, centers, and schools, and supporting individuals on their journey to professional development and entrepreneurship in this vital field.
