The Legal division delivers comprehensive legal services by providing efficient and reliable legal guidance, managing legal risk, and supporting the development of solutions to achieve the mission of the foundation and its affiliated entities. The Legal division partners with our colleagues across the foundation to enable mission-driven work by maintaining an efficient, well-run global organization where employees can thrive and make their best contributions. Doing this well requires effective collaboration, strong alignment, and thoughtful planning across both operational and programmatic teams - as well as shared accountability for mitigating risk and optimizing the foundation's operational resources.Your Role This is a role for a creative leader with a high degree of ownership and process improvement skills. You will design and manage the planning and execution of projects and activities supporting improvements and change across legal operations business processes, teams, and functions. Provides proactive program and project leadership, identifying and driving project deliverables. Partners with cross-functional teams to ensure delivery of outlined scope, business value, timeline, and quality. You must have deep experience partnering and working with global Human Resource and Expansion teams and developing and driving improvements and change across global teams and functions. What You'll Do (This section is meant to describe the responsibilities of the job) Design, lead, launch and monitor Legal operations programs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation. Provide tactical management throughout project lifecycle and oversee development of all project deliverables (charter, requirements, detailed design, plan, recommendations, post-project, etc.). Ensure execution of all activities to meet the defined scope, schedule, and budget. Partner with Legal colleagues and collaborators to support change management approach, including identification of interdependencies with other planned work. Ensure effective convening and communication with project members, stakeholders, and senior leadership. Includes providing proactive status updates, solutioning, risk/issue management and documenting/tracking key decisions and action items. Facilitate meetings and communications throughout the project lifecycle to build momentum and ensure transparency of relevant information to appropriate audiences. Establish and nurture relationships with other project partners/sponsors to coordinate development of all deliverables and ensure alignment on prioritization. Coordinate with manager and business sponsorship to ensure project is appropriately resourced and/or tools are effectively handled to achieve objectives. Anticipate project-specific risks and minimize impact of change on delivery. Compare actual performance with planned performance and implement appropriate corrective action, if needed. Develop artifacts, documenting processes and findings from each project ensuring knowledge is captured and available for future implementation. Find opportunities for creating templates, playbooks, and best practices for broader use. Proven ability to mobilize and empower teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict. Able to deliver tough messages with diplomacy and perseverance. May be required to work based on limited information and take steps to resolve ambiguity. Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key collaborators; conscientious and creative person who can listen to and understand partner interests and concerns and proactively plan to address them. Research, analyze, and synthesize internal and external information for various topics or programs. Help identify, plan, project manage and conduct research for learning opportunities, optimization, and knowledge management for Legal division.Your ExperienceWe are looking for people who enjoy the opportunity of working on complex problems and collaboratively creating solutions that have the potential for transformational change in the lives of people around the world. We are looking for a teammate who is: At least 10 years of progressive broad operational experience, including in the areas of legal operations, project management, portfolio management, program management. Demonstrated complex project management skills and a successful track record of leading or running multiple simultaneous legal operations projects relating to process improvement initiatives in the labor and employee relations and human resources. Includes measuring project results and creating dashboards/scorecards, project definition, planning/scoping the work, establishing governance and partners, organizing work meaningfully, designing appropriate solutions, implementing the solutions, managing change, effective communications, analyzing data, and monitoring for ultimate impact/effectiveness. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs, and proactive in identifying areas of need and generating action plans. Deep organizational and analytical skills and ability to manage dozens of live requests and processes at any time to ensure progress, tracking and success. Able to work with flexibility, efficiency, and diplomacy in a fast-paced, challenging environment. Open to rapid change and able to learn new things quickly. Able to distill what is needed next, even without expertise in programmatic content. Adept and simplifying complex issues. Organized and highly detail orientated with demonstrated ability to act as liaison across matrixed teams and organizations. Proactive problem-solver skilled in leading partners toward creative and flexible solutions. Ability to communicate to internal and external stakeholders, at all levels about technical and operational details, effectively adjusting approach to meet varying needs and level of understanding while protecting highly sensitive and legally privileged information. Demonstrates effectiveness influencing individuals and teams without explicit authority. Exemplary written and verbal communicator, comfortable communicating in multiple ways while intently and with a bias toward being responsive and productive. Strong preparation and presentation of executive-level information. Ability to navigate a wide range of operational issues including legal, security, IT, facilities, events, financial, HR and balance the needs of the foundation, bringing a technical and balanced point of view to both sides. Ability to remain objective and optimistic when both absorbing and communicating information. Able to develop and nurture strong relationships with internal and external partners. Demonstrates expert knowledge of, and ability to work across multiple project management systems, accompanied with knowledge in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and other web-based software applications. Demonstrates DEI mindset in understanding and valuing differences in others and seeking input from the values and uniqueness of people of different groups and cultures. The salary range for this role is $181,200 to $271,800 USD. We recognize high-wage market differences where our offices are located, in Seattle, Washington D.C., and Boston (Cambridge). The range for this role in these locations is $181,200 to $271,800 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission and new hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidate's job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.
