Registered Nurse - Outpatient Primary Care MED-ZSFG-AIDS Full Time 78416BR Job Summary Under the direction of the Ward 86 Nurse Managers, the incumbent will perform work as a Registered Nurse in a primary care setting. The incumbent will be responsible for nursing care, including, but not limited to, providing direct patient care, coordinating care, providing education and coaching for a panel of patients within an interdisciplinary team structure. In addition to direct nursing care, the incumbent will participate in quality improvement initiatives, attend meetings, and sit on clinic committees as directed. Ward 86 is the largest clinic providing primary medical care for people living with HIV for the San Francisco Health Network (SFHN) and also provide preventive services to patients at-risk for HIV infection, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Ward 86 provides care to approximately 2400 patients living with HIV, with over 22,000 clinical encounters a year. Services are offered through a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach, addressing primary medical and HIV care, urgent care, mental health evaluation and treatment, substance use assessment, treatment and referrals, HIV prevention services, and HIV specialty care needs. ABOUT BRIDGE CLINIC Bridge Clinic is a low barrier clinic for people who would like to change their relationship to drugs and alcohol. Located at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, Bridge Clinic treats patients who seek to cut back or quit alcohol, drugs, or tobacco. Bridge Clinic offers medications, overdose prevention counseling and supplies, group visits, and referrals to residential treatment or recovery groups, primary medical care, and/or mental health treatment. In partnership and consultation with the Medical Director and clinical leadership, the Bridge Clinic Clinical Nurse II will help lead day to day patient care of the Bridge Clinic and help lead the expansion of Bridge Clinic services. This position will be a role model for compassionate care for people who use drugs and alcohol. ABOUT DIVISION OF HIV, INFECTIOUS DISEASES AND GLOBAL MEDICINE The Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) is an internationally recognized global leader in clinical care, research, and education. With its home-base located at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG), the Division has been ranked as the top facility in the country for AIDS care since 1983. The Division's work is featured frequently in the media, and it is often visited by numerous international, national, state, and local dignitaries and delegations. The Division consists of approximately 36 faculty members, 11 fellows/postdoctoral scholars and 170 academic and staff employees. It is the largest Division of the Department of Medicine (DOM) at ZSFG, with a total expenditure budget of approximately $52 million dollars. Required Qualifications Possession of a baccalaureate degree and the legal requirements to practice as a Registered Nurse as determined by the California Board of Registered Nursing and six months+ of clinical experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position Graduation from an accredited school of nursing Experience working with patients living with HIV/AIDS and/or Substance Use Disorders (SUD) Advanced knowledge of harm reduction principles and experience working within a harm reduction patient care model, such as syringe access programs Minimum 12 months experience providing direct services administering injectable medications to People Living with HIV for treatment and people at risk for HIV aquisition for prevention Preferred Qualifications HIV/AIDS Certified Registered Nurse (ACRN) Certification Experience working with a harm reduction model in health care setting Experience working with patients experiencing homelessness or unstable housing Demonstrated ability to support people who use drugs or alcohol in a compassionate and stigma free way License/Certification Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California Active American Heart Association CPR Certification About UCSF The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a leading university dedicated to promoting health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care.
