About the jobAt Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire a Packaging Operator based in our Chatsworth, California manufacturing plant! In this role, you will be responsible for running and maintaining all basic process and process related functions and equipment with quality being the major concern. Be able to effectively work in a team environment and communicate (verbal and written) with people on a professional level. Contributes to overall department production goals, maintains a clean and safe work environment. This is a unionized role based on site and the work schedule is as follows (subject to availability):First Shift (Days): 4:30 am - 1:00 pm (Monday - Friday with occasional Saturday)Second Shift (Afternoon): 1:15 pm - 9:45 pm (Monday - Friday with occasional Saturday)In this role, you will be responsible for the following:Ensure all documentation (written or electronic) is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format and completed with all required information as needed, when neededBasic knowledge of tear-down, set-up, monitoring, operation, changeover and cleaning applicable to processing line, equipment, and provide quality inspections on all related items to include but not limited to, weight checks, compliance with product specs, etc.Ensure basic clean and inspect standards are up to date and completed in a timely mannerMaintain basic working knowledge of all value stream equipment to include all support equipment, make minor adjustments, changeovers and repairs using basic toolsAssist in diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds of machines, partner with maintenance or others on non-routine repairs and defect handling.Monitor equipment for malfunctions and defects, notifying proper team members of problems, repairs needed, basic assistance, and eliminating potential threats to production through basic upkeep of equipment.Communicate effectively and partner with supervisors and maintenance personnel regarding recurring problems and needs for repairTake part in utilizing the Root Cause thought process to ensure corrective actions are sustainableMaintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concernsUtilizing continuous improvement mindset, actively participate in identifying and correcting opportunities to improve processes including participation in the creation and documentation of Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions, the creation and maintenance of preventative maintenance standards, assistance with the writing of One Point Lessons, and participation in continuous improvement methodology eventsFollow Good Manufacturing Practices and 5S methodology to maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area, maintaining audit ready status at all timesActively participate in Pillar activities (i.e. Quality, Food Safety, Focused Improvement, Safety, etc.) including but not limited to observations, inspections, and recommendations.Works diligently to achieve line efficiency goalsAssist, train, and coach employeesSupports plant production needs and priorities to achieve plant goalsFacilitate, attend and participate in team meetings and programsComply with all policies and proceduresAll other duties as assigned or become evidentDisclaimerThe above information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.It is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to this job.Nothing in this job description restricts Danone North America rights to assign or reassign duties and responsibility to this job at any time.The Danone North America provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to sex, race, color, religion, marital status, national origin, age, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, pregnancy, or any other factor that may be protected by law. The work environment is satiated with a multitude of smells. The noise level in the work environment is loud because of high-speed motors. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery, chemical exposure, noise, or heavy lifting. The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time.
