JOB SUMMARY The West Suburban Family Medicine Residency Program is one of the first Family Medicine training programs established in Illinois. Formally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in 1971, the program was led by Dr. A.L. Burdick, an early pioneer of Family Medicine. The Program became dually accredited by the American Osteopathic Association in 2005 and subsequently achieved ACGME Osteopathic Recognition in 2019. The 3 year training program accepts ten first year residents each year, and consistently ranks among the highest in Illinois for the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) examination performance. West Suburban Medical Center is a community hospital located only 9 miles west of downtown Chicago. The hospital cares for a diverse patient population from the west side of Chicago and multiple surrounding communities. As a safety net hospital, we deliver quality healthcare services to underserved patients. PCC Community Wellness Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that hosts our four continuity sites for resident clinics. RESPONSIBILITIES The Family Medicine Program Director responsibilities include: Program administration, operations, resident recruitment and selection. The Program Director oversees the educational content of resident curriculum, supervision, evaluation, promotion and scholarly activity. Assist Faculty Member recruitment, retention and development. The Program Director also works closely with the designated institutional official (DIO), and Faculty Members to ensure an effective leaning environment that promotes resident wellness. The Program Director is accountable to the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC), the DIO and the ACGME Residency Review Committee (RRC). Maintain compliance with the ACGME, including preparation and participation in site visits. Prepare an annual program evaluation (APE). Practice clinically and provide teaching in outpatient and inpatient settings. Role model professionalism to residents and faculty. Support hospital quality and safety initiatives. Participate in hospital committees. Work collaboratively with program coordinators, colleagues, staff and hospital administration. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Doctor of Medicine Degree (MD/DO) • Board certification in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) or American Board of Osteopathic Family Physicians (AOBFP) • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois • Minimum 3 years of post-residency experience, prefer at least two years as a faculty member in an ACGME-accredited program West Suburban Medical Center provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
