Eckerd College is currently hiring for the position of Assistant Indoor Volleyball Coach to join our Athletics team at our waterfront property along the Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, in our relationship-focused community. The Eckerd College Tritons are members of NCAA Division II and the Sunshine State Conference with 14 teams competing in a variety of varsity sports. The Triton volleyball team has been a regular qualifier for the NCAA South Regional Tournament with five appearances since 2012 as well as back-to-back 20+ win seasons in the last two years. As an Assistant Volleyball Coach, you will support all facets of the program including individual and team instruction and coaching, recruiting student-athletes who will succeed at Eckerd and in the conference, managing scheduling and travel, and coordinating the team's social media efforts in collaboration with the athletic communications department. The Assistant Volleyball Coach demonstrates extensive knowledge of indoor volleyball fundamentals, techniques, and strategies, and possesses knowledge of NCAA compliance rules. The incumbent must have the ability to identify, recruit, and retain competitive student-athletes and cultivate positive relationships with athletes, alumni, parents, and donors. The position frequently requires prolonged periods of moving around gymnasiums and campus facilities and frequently requires after-hours work and travel. Generous employer contribution to employee's retirement plan upon eligibility. Key Responsibilities Provides skill instruction during every practice, individual workout, and team competition.. Supports head volleyball coach with the indoor volleyball program by assisting with practice and match preparation and assisting with the recruiting process. Plans and coordinates transportation, lodging, and food arrangements for road contests for indoor volleyball. Manages social media accounts for the indoor volleyball program Monitors the academic progress of volleyball student-athletes and coordinates academic assistance and tutoring when necessary. Performs various athletics administrative and compliance tasks such as CARA logs, tryout, unofficial, official visit paperwork. Assists with duties assigned to help with the beach volleyball program if the need arises in the areas of administration such as scheduling, apparel ordering, or any other organizational duties. Assist with van driving for beach in the spring if/when needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree Two (2) years of experience as an assistant coach in collegiate, high school, and/or club athletics Experience playing collegiate volleyball and recruiting college-level student athletes or assisting with the recruiting process.
