The operation at Coventry is huge with 70 of PFW parcel volumes flowing through the hub and on average the night shift deals with 600 trailers arrivals and 300 shunt movements. To support the smooth running of the hub, we have a vacancy for a Yard Manager/Vehicle Control System Manager (VCS) who is responsible for the management of the VCS and gatehouse operations and to lead a team, ensuring employee targets and objectives are achieved. The role In this time critical role, you'll be responsible for controlling all trailer movements at the Hub, leading to successful clearance of all inbound trailers and ensuring all outbound trailers are despatched to time. With accountability for the yard management system , you'll monitor yard volume capacity, review trailer prioritisation, ensuring customers' needs and expectations are met. You'll own the contingency plans at work area level, implement as required to ensure the operation runs efficiently and analyse any major VCS incidents or Quality of Service failures. Health and safety is key as you'll ensure work area compliance to the health and safety policy (including risk backssment), addressing day: to: day issues, and liaise with union H and S representatives. Alongside the yard management responsibilities, you'll lead a team of approx. 20 , which includes reviewing the performance of the team on a daily basis, implementing improvement activities and managing HR processes for example performance, conduct and attendance procedures.
