What you will do: This is a highly professional position in Adult Protective Services requiring expertise in medical evaluation and medical assessment of vulnerable adults. This specialized position functions as the medical expert for adult protective investigations, adult protective supervision, and adult protective intervention programs. The individual must be a legally and professionally qualified Registered Nurse with appropriate experience, education, and license, and must demonstrate ability in nursing practice and administration. Work is performed under the supervision of the Region APS Director.Review and interpret medical records to assist protective investigation and supervision staff with medical decisions relating to investigations of adult abuse, neglect, and exploitation and provision of services to vulnerable adult victims. How you will make an impact: :Assist adult protective staff members by providing professional nursing diagnosis for vulnerable adults who are victims of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. :This includes providing expert opinions regarding the capacity to consent to services, the presence and causes of abuse or neglect, and exploitation and to able to make recommendations for the prevention of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults.:Provide professional nursing diagnoses for vulnerable adults who are victims of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. :This includes providing expert opinions regarding the presence and causes of abuse or neglect and exploitation and making recommendations for the prevention of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults.:Provide written reports of nursing opinions and medical documentation in accordance with current operating procedures and policies concerning alleged abuse, neglect, and exploitation reports received through the Hotline.:Make recommendations for intervention through immediate and ongoing protection of victims of adult abuse, neglect and exploitation.:Conduct or arrange pre:service and in:service training with staff on medical aspects of abuse, neglect and exploitation of vulnerable adults.:Provide professional, medical training to the public and private sectors regarding the medical aspects of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults.:Coordinate the multi:disciplinary team in the protection, prevention, and implementation of treatment for vulnerable adults who are victims of abuse, neglect or exploitation.:Perform travel as necessary in relation to the above duties. :Employee must hold a valid, unrestricted Florida drivers license, have the use of a private automobile, and maintain current vehicle insurance.Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications: :Registered Nurse :Threee years of nursing experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: : Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and techniques.: Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.: Knowledge of indicators, evidence of abuse, neglect, and exploitation (A/N/E) of aged and disabled adults.: Knowledge of Chapter 415, Florida Statues, Chapter 10A:7, Florida : Administrative Rule, policies and procedures relating to Adult Protective Services.: Knowledge of medications prescribed for aged persons and disabled adults. : Ability to participate in the detection, prevention, protection, and planning of treatment for victims of A/N/E.: Ability to review and interpret medi
