Practice Area: Litigation - Real Estate - Defense, Job Type: Attorney, Firm Type: Law Firm, Experience: 10 Years, A law firm located in Farmington Hills, Michigan is seeking a Senior Litigation Attorney with 10+ years of experience in mortgage, mortgage default, title, and real estate-associated litigation. The candidate will manage a caseload of complex litigation matters related to mortgage, mortgage default, title, general real estate, and collections. Responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents, representing clients in hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings, and managing the case management system for the Litigation Department. The ideal candidate will also collaborate with Fortune 500 Legal Departments on litigation matters, provide strategic advice and counsel to clients, manage escalated matters, and supervise Associate attorneys and paralegal and paraprofessional staff. Knowledge of federal and state laws impacting mortgage servicing such as TILA, FDCPA, RESPA, and Fair Housing Act, the Homeowners Protection Act, and predatory lending laws is preferred. Duties:Manage a caseload of complex litigation matters related to mortgage, mortgage default, title, general real estate, and collections.Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.Represent clients in hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings.Manage the case management system for the Litigation Department.Collaborate with Fortune 500 Legal Departments on litigation matters.Provide strategic advice and counsel to clients on litigation-related issues.Manage escalated matters and review, evaluate high-risk litigation, and provide recommendations to senior management.Remain current and knowledgeable about applicable legislation, case law, and administrative rulings.Supervise and support Associate attorneys and paralegal and paraprofessional staff. Requirements:Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.Admission to the Michigan State Bar.Strong understanding of non-judicial residential foreclosure actions, title curative, and asset recovery matters.Expertise in non-judicial residential foreclosure actions, title curative, and asset recovery matters is preferred. Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.Practice management skills preferred.
