Position Description : The Senior Pastor at Canyon Springs Christian Church is responsible for providing leadership in planning, conducting, and evaluating a Christ-centered ministry for Canyon Springs Christian Church. Qualifications : Possess advanced theological degree(s) from a conservative seminary. Be ordained as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Possess a strong, dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ demonstrated through regular prayer, Bible study, and worship attendance. Fulfill the character qualifications as taught in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, to the best of their ability. Be a strategic thinker with the ability to manage, mobilize, and motivate people to follow and serve our Lord Jesus. Promote a Biblical world view to those who attend CSCC, and the surrounding community. Demonstrate the ability to teach Scripture in a manner that is biblically sound and culturally relevant. Be passionate about reaching people for Jesus Christ. Have a minimum of three to five years experience in senior leadership. Have strong gift of leadership and proven experience developing leaders. Fully commit to the mission, vision, and values of CSCC. Demonstrate a healthy family life. If married, the spouse must be a believer and supportive of the ministry. Big Picture Responsibilities : Be devoted to study, preaching, and teaching the word of God. Vision casting through leading, teaching, and shepherding. Discipleship and leadership development. Provide recommendations to the elders and staff on matters concerning administration and general church oversight. Teaching: Prepare and preach a minimum of forty Sunday messages per year. Select pulpit supply for balance of year. Leadership: Develop vision and goals for the church in conjunction with elders and staff and lead the church in the fulfillment of its vision through teamwork. Communicate vision and build church unity by motivating the body to actively support a common purpose and direction. Foster a culture to disciple, develop, train, and mentor lay leaders, staff, and elders. Discipleship: Shepherd and coach staff and volunteers to live out the Great Commission making disciples who make disciples. Teach and preach the word of God with the goal to reach people for Christ, and deepen their relationship with Christ, through understanding of God's Word. Pastoral Care: Provide pastoral care through visitation, Biblical counseling, and prayer. Provide appropriate referrals. Be available with the staff, and elders to serve at weddings, funerals, and baptisms. Personal Development: Attend relevant conferences/workshops for the benefit of personal and professional growth. Develop accountability for prayer life and spiritual health. Other Responsibilities : Participate in staff meetings. Serve as elder ex-officio to help guide all ministries at CSCC, coaching and supporting the elders. Other duties as assigned by the elders.
