The Azure Platform Security and Confidentiality team is responsible for Firmware development of server, silicon and rack infrastructure design with a focus on innovation in security technology to secure Azure infrastructure for Microsoft and their customers. We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Firmware Development Engineer with a background in security. You must have proficient C programing skills, with experience writing low level drivers, root causing issues at the intersection of multiple subsystems across firmware and hardware. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years security and Embedded Software/Firmware development experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, RUST programming skills. OR equivalent experience. Knowledge in Encryption ciphers and security protocols Experience debugging and resolving embedded software/firmware issues spanning multiple subsystems. Experience with Platform initialization, Board support package porting, low level drivers for peripherals such as PCIe ( Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) , I2C ( Inter-Integrated Circuit) , eMMC (embedded MultiMediaCard) , SPI ( Serial Peripheral Interface) , USB (Universal Serial Bus) , UARTs ( Universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter) as well as Memory Management, Scheduling, Interrupts and multi-threading Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. The candidate should have experience with some or all the following: driver development, Linux driver initialization, peripherals such as PCIe, memory interfaces. OS primitives, memory management, scheduling, interrupts, threading. Experience with Penetration testing also a plus Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
