How to Apply Applicants must submit a current resume and a brief cover letter that contains the following information: Availability for the semester for which they are applying A list of Biology courses completed at UM-Flint Contact information of a BIO faculty member who is recommending you Summary The Biology department is looking to hire students to work as prep attendants for the Fall 2024 semester. Anatomy and physiology prep attendants provide laboratory set up for the Human Anatomy & Physiology I labs (BIO 167). This includes assembling lab kits and setting out various models, handouts, and equipment. The position requires experience using compound microscopes and focusing on various prepared slides. Each position is filled on a per semester basis. The A&P prep attendant reports to the Laboratory Coordinator. Anatomy and physiology prep attendants work weekly schedules based on lab availability and will be finalized upon hiring. Responsibilities* The primary responsibility of laboratory prep attendants is to set up and tear down models, microscopes, and other supplies necessary for each lab activity. In addition, all anatomy and physiology prep attendants are expected to: Provide suggested updates to lab documents to ensure clarity and effectiveness Troubleshoot lab activities as necessary Know locations and appropriate usage of all safety equipment Follow all departmental safety rules Ensure good housekeeping in the lab by doing the following: Filling paper towels and soap dispensers Wiping tables and benchtops Ensuring that models and equipment are stored appropriately Reporting any broken equipment/models to the Lab Coordinator Assist with inventory of Human A&P I labs Communicate work schedule with the Lab Coordinator Required Qualifications* Must be a currently enrolled UM-Flint student A demonstrated ability to apply laboratory safety rules Knowledge of proper use and handling of compound microscopes Recommendation by a Biology Laboratory instructor Excellent organizational skills Strong communication skills Additional Information University of Michigan-Flint - Plan for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion The University of Michigan-Flint's DEI plan can be found at: https://www.umflint.edu/dei/?
