BARGAINING UNIT / LEVEL: Supervisory - Level 08 SALARY RANGE: $77,480 - $85,301 annually DOQ GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the supervision of the District Maintenance Manager, work activities in this position primarily involve supervising and coordinating the activities of employees engaged in building and grounds maintenance. Such activities may involve but are not limited to: keeping buildings clean, maintaining and repairing building utility systems and physical structures, turf maintenance, landscape maintenance, facility maintenance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The list below is intended to describe the general nature of duties only. Employee shall perform other duties as assigned. Supervise, schedule and coordinate activities of employees engaged in maintenance activities. Hire, train, and supervise all provisional and seasonal maintenance employees. Complete annual performance evaluations on all assigned employees. Assist in preparation and administration of annual maintenance budget. May assist Park Operations Manager with weddings, building rentals, special events and activities as needed. Maintain records of preventative maintenance and repairs. Prepare reports and correspondence; make recommendations to supervisors on maintenance issues. Maintain turf and landscaped areas using hand or power lawn mowers or clippers and edging tools. Plant grass, flowers, trees and shrubs. Irrigate turf and landscape areas using hose or portable sprinkler system. Irrigation system upkeep and repair. Shovel snow from walks and driveways. Repair fences, gates, walls and walks using carpentry and masonry tools. Clean drainage ditches and culverts using rake and shovels. Maintain and repair building utility system. Build, repair, and install counters, cabinets, benches, floors, partitions, doors, building framework and trim. Perform various plumbing, heating and cooling, and electrical repairs as necessary. Interpret specifications, blueprints and work orders to employees. Operate all park equipment in one or more phases of work such as construction, landscape maintenance, clean-up, forestry practices and road and beach maintenance. Prepare reports and correspondence; make recommendations to supervisors on maintenance issues. Coordinate with the public and contractors on events, room rentals, weddings, etc. Respond to any problems that may occur while events are in progress. Maintain buildings and all other duties required in park maintenance. May operate a small boat. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: May serve on committees as requested such as safety, strategic planning, etc. May assist park operations with special events. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree in related field, Bachelors preferred. Applicants with 4 or more years of related service will be given credit toward meeting the minimum educational requirements and will be considered for the position. Two years of supervisory or five years of experience in park and recreation maintenance of buildings, grounds, and/or parks. Some positions may require State of Michigan D-5 Water license or ability to obtain license within one year of appointment to the position. Knowledge and Experience of materials, tools, practices and methods of buildings and grounds maintenance. Knowledge of work hazards, preventive safety checks and applicable OSHA/MI-OSHA regulations. Knowledge of the laws and ordinances regulating the operation of vehicles. Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Ability to operate listed tools and equipment. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must have the ability to utilize telephone, radio equipment, and computer. Ability to supervise employees. Must be available via phone to respond to on-call issues that require immediate resolution. Possession of Pesticide Applicator License (PAL), including core and categories 3A, 3B and 6 or ability to obtain within 6 months of position start date. Possession of a Michigan Commercial Driver License (CDL–A w/air brakes) or ability to obtain within 1 year of position start date. Possession of an Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of position start date. May be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs, including special events, evenings, weekends & holidays. Ability to perform essential duties. Powered by JazzHR
