The Quality Inspector will perform required inspections (visual, dimensional, load tests, etc.) on mechanical, electrical or structural components or systems to ensure conformance with the quality requirements for spacecraft components and associated systems. This position may be filled at either a level 2 or level 3. Responsibilities: Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products. Perform required inspections (visual, dimensional, and functional, etc.) on spacecraft components. Uses various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, pin gages, and Coordinate Measuring Machine. This job has decision-making responsibilities with regards to the acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed. Inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical, or structural components and assemblies related to spacecraft components and sub-assemblies. Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of the work in progress. Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems. Work from drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, and inspection instructions. Basic Qualifications for a level 2: High school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of additional education and/or direct experience in a quality assurance or inspection role Experience utilizing various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, gages, pin gages, and other inspection tools including Coordinate Measuring Machine US Citizenship required Basic Qualification for a level 3: Same qualifications as above, but with 4 years of related experience Preferred Qualifications: Strong Computer skills Ability to read and comprehend detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bill of Materials, Specifications and related criteria. Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to interface across the organization to achieve effective results Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads. Experience with electronics workmanship standards such as IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 and other related specifications Experience in Aerospace manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, and/or electronic assemblies. Experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines Salary Range: $48,600 - $81,000 Salary Range 2: $57,800 - $96,300The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
