San Diego Youth Services JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Clinical Coordinator San Diego Youth Services seeks a Program Coordinator in the Sunny Days Program to be based at our College Heights Location. This is a full-time & exempt position reporting to the Program Director. San Diego Youth Services: Who We Are San Diego Youth Services has helped improve the lives of more than 780,000 homeless, runaway, and vulnerable youth since its beginning in 1970. We provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelters, foster homes, community centers, and housing to more than 28,000 youth every year at 100+ community and school locations. Through prevention, early intervention, and treatment, we also help youth before they need higher levels of care or become homeless. We aim to: Meet the basic needs of youth. Hunger, poverty, and youth homelessness are on the rise for many youth and their families today. We help meet these basic needs for youth. What could be more vital than food and shelter? San Diego Youth Services has long provided foster homes and adoption support services for families considering adopting a youth in the foster care system. Help youth develop life skills. In addition to a range of safe and stable housing options, we offer support to help youth develop the independent living skills necessary to become self-sufficient and keep off the streets. Promote overall health and well-being. Early intervention and care for the whole child are critical. We provide a broad continuum of services to help youth overcome trauma and challenges that put them at risk, including case management, counseling, mental health treatment and educational support and resources . SDYS has a staff of approximately 215 employees and 80 volunteers working across San Diego County and an annual budget of approximately $22 million. You can learn more about us at www.sdyouthservices.org DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION OR PROGRAM DESCRIPTION HIRING FOR Sunny Days offers a holistic approach to building resilience and promoting emotional wellness among youth ages, 13 to 25, who have experienced homelessness, and engagement with child welfare and/or justice systems and are disconnected from school or employment. We offer trauma-informed individual and group counseling services for young people, as well as psychiatry services.Sunny Days equips youth who have experienced homelessness and other forms of institutionalized trauma with knowledge and skills that support healthy mental health, healing and thriving. This program also raises awareness and mobilizes action to address social inequities that impact youth mental health such as transphobia, racism and homophobia through targeted outreach campaigns. The program is open to youth already receiving services from San Diego Youth Services. CONTEXT OF THE POSITION To provide comprehensive trauma-informed services as part of the Sunny Days program. The goal of the Sunny Days program I, therapy and support for youth and their families who are already receiving services from SDYS and need more. Sunny Days is focused on prevention and intervention services for identified youth and their families. The Sunny Days Program provides services in the home, SDYS campuses, and in the community. In support of the Program Manager the Clinical Coordinator is responsible for fielding therapy referrals, assigning referrals to clinical interns/trainees, screening possible intakes, providing intake assessments, crisis management, creating a service plan in partnership with the youth or family, facilitating appropriate referrals to outside services, as well as family, individual, and group psychotherapy. In addition to counseling services, the Clinical Coordinator provides ongoing coordination of mental health services, provides consultation, risk assessments, and evaluation of service delivery. Clinical Coordinator provides prevention and intervention-facilitated groups on a variety of topics, including: (TFCBT, trauma, alcohol and drug use, teen pregnancy, self-esteem, positive choices, anger management, family support, and parenting (Tay for Tots). Responsible for the development and maintenance of an integrated treatment approach for youth with co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders and quality trauma-informed youth services. Essential functions include: 1. The development, implementation, and evaluation of an integrated treatment approach for youth with co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders and quality trauma-informed youth programs that adhere to and uphold the rigorous standards of San Diego Youth Services as mandated by its mission, purpose, guiding principles and standards of quality. 2. Adhere to and uphold the rigorous standards of SDYS as mandated by its mission, purpose, guiding principles, and standards of quality. Participate in their refinement. 3. Assist Program Managers with coordination, training, and support of clinical interns/trainees and monitoring of clinical services provided by Sunny Days Program. 4. Provide support to the Program Manager regarding complex referrals, on-site clinical consultation, crisis management, program development, and adherence to legal and ethical mandates. 6. Assist the Program Manager in the preparation of Sunny Days reports. 7. Ensure contract compliance by coordinating and conducting internal audits and file reviews. 8. Work closely in collaboration with the Clinical Supervisor, Program Managers, and community partners to ensure needs are being met and support services are readily available. 10. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with staff and volunteers within the program, the center, the agency, and the community. 11. Participate in team meetings and provide consultation as needed 12. Assist in updating program policy and procedures. 14. Participate in appropriate agency-wide committees as applicable. 15. Attend all required agency and county trainings and meetings. 16. Maintain accurate and timely uniform record documentation. Maintain data collection and contract compliance of records as required. 17. Maintain clear, effective, and open communication within the team and among community partners. 18. Provide home visiting services as needed. 19. Work with school personnel and families to reduce disparities and stigma in accessing mental health services and to provide high quality services to youth and families. 20. Provide short-term individual and family therapy to assist with complex client needs. 21. Work collaboratively in DEI Coordinator and Youth Action Board (YAB) on coordinated program goals and objectives 22. Work collaboratively with Sunny Days Interns and Agency departments to support intern success with social media campaigns to reduce stigma. 23. Coordinate fielding therapy referrals and assign referrals to clinical interns/trainees; and provide risk assessments and crisis intervention, resources, and support services to youth/families. 24. Care coordination with area mental health support and services as well as other needed services for youth/families with depression, other mental health problems, substance abuse or a history of trauma 25. Maintain confidentiality and privacy standards of service-partners’ protected health information and other applicable information and material in accordance to agency and center policies, and applicable regulations and laws, including HIPAA. 26. Participate in implementing the agency’s resource development plan as appropriate. 27. Maintain a working knowledge of MIS equipment. 28. Maintain the program’s space and vehicle cleanliness and safety. Report and coordinate any necessary facility or equipment repairs with the Program Manager as needed. With other staff, participate in the maintenance of the day-to-day cleanliness and order of the physical facility and grounds. 29. Maintain a warm and welcoming environment. 30. Perform other Duties as assigned or required. PREFERRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS · Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.· Bachelors Required.· Masters Preferred. · License-eligible in Marital and Family Therapy, Social Work, LPC, or Psychology by the state of California, and a minimum of one year of job-related experience, including working with adolescent females and their families. · Must be registered with the California Board of Behavioral Science and must be in good standing, please indicate IMF intern number, ASW registration number or MFT/LCSW license number in application. · Must possess excellent oral and written skills and be able to provide services to small and large groups of youth and adults. · Must work well autonomously as well as with other agencies and program staff in varying disciplines. · Must be highly organized with the ability to focus on multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Creativity and sense of humor a must. · Must be willing to develop or possess working knowledge of trauma-informed care and dual diagnosis treatment; experience working in trauma-informed and dual diagnosis programs preferred. · Must maintain CPR/First-Aid Certificate. · Must have reliable vehicle and relevant auto insurance, plus a clean driving record (mileage reimbursed). · Must be available to work weekends and evenings as assigned by supervisor and/or as needed. · Employment subject to clearances, which may include fingerprinting, background checks, TB testing, and drug testing.
