The unit has a family centered approach surrounding education and resources and provides private rooms for all patients. Nurses care for patients with titratable drips, arterial lines and cardiac monitoring. Staff has the ability to work 8 and 12 hour shifts or a combination. The RN will work with ICU technicians (Assistive personnel) offering the best care possible for families and patients.CVC 5 provides technologically advanced care, through a highly integrated and cooperative effort of the nursing staff, physicians and other allied health professionals.We are pleased to announce that in the fall of 2025, U-M Health will be opening our newest hospital, the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion. CVC-5 Intermediate care unit will be located on the 9th floor in the Pavilion and join our (current) 4B surgical unit. The 9th floor will be a mixed acuity, 48-bed medical-surgical population, including Cardiovascular, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Interventional Cardiology, Otolaryngology, Oral Maxillofacial, Neurosurgical, and Neurology services. The multidisciplinary team shall include surgeons, speech and swallowing therapists, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapy, social work, discharge planners, dietitians, and nurses. The nurse in this role will utilize their expertise to provide supportive, direct care, meeting the physical, nutritional, emotional, psychosocial, and educational needs of the patient and family. There is also an emphasis to ensure both comfort and confidence for self-care post discharge Nursing Specific Info Salary & Nursing Framework Level:This UMPNC RN posting is posted under the Role-Specific Advancement Model (RSAM) as:ENC- COMPETENT NEActual RSAM LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.RSAM levels range from ENC-COMPETENT-NE to ENC-EXPERT-NE TO ENC-MASTERY-NE.Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Required Qualifications* Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan. BSN or an equivalent combination of education and experience 3 years of current cardiovascular nursing experience Strong work ethic as evidenced by attendance and punctuality, participation on unit as preceptor, mentor, committee involvement Clear understanding of current educational needs of the CVC 5 staff as evidenced by cover letter and personal statement Demonstrated strong team player Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication as evidenced by evaluation and exemplars NOTE: In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.RESUME REQUIRED (for both internal & external applicants):You must attach a complete and accurate resume to be fully considered for this position. Desired Qualifications* BSN preferred Certification in critical care: PCCN, CCRN, ACLS Previous teaching experience in cardio-vascular telemetry nursing. High level of self-motivation and the commitment to improving patient outcomes. Excellent customer relation skills and a commitment to the principles of Family Centered Care. Experience serving on a unit or institutional committee. Ability to function independently and as part of a team. Applies current literature / research to problems in practice area. Able to set goals in self-directed manner. Documented ability to effectively mentor nurse colleagues. Knowledge of principles of adult learners.
