Materials Science Degree Apprentice – working towards a fully funded BSc in Materials Science. The Role – Materials Science Degree Apprentice The role is part of the Quality Assurance and Compliance department at Luxfer MEL Technologies’ (LMT) Manchester site. The magnesium business within LMT design, develop and manufacture novel magnesium alloys used in a range of applications from aerospace. The zirconium chemicals business at LMT develop materials that go into catalyst, ceramic and automotive applications. As a Materials Science Apprentice you will be working in the Quality Assurance and Compliance team, supporting the world-class R&D and Manufacturing teams to deliver novel high-performance materials around the globe. You will complete placements in other departments such as Quality Control, R&D and Manufacturing, which will be done in six monthly blocks. You will also attend Sheffield Hallam University on the materials science apprenticeship course and after 4.5 years will complete with a degree in materials science.
