JOB DESCRIPTION: WELDER Reports to: Production Supervisor Grind Shop/Roll Shop Direct Reports: N/A FLSA: Non-Exempt Summary Responsible for assembling shurclads and repairing damage in metal components using heavy machinery that emits high heat, melting the metal into shape. Essential Functions Reading and understanding blueprints prior to starting a project. Welding materials using the correct materials to join the metals together. Sourcing the materials to be used in the project. Measuring and cutting materials to specifications. Checking finished work to make sure that it falls within the tolerances marked on the blueprints. Abide by safety policies and procedures to ensure safe work practices. Communicate with coworkers, management, customers and others in a courteous and professional manner. Conform with and abide by all Company regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions. Other duties as required by Supervisor and/or management. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to read blueprints and engineering plans to perform work within specification. Ability to fabricate parts including laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring and welding while holding overall tolerances. Effectively read calipers, micrometers, and indicators. Knowledge of and ability to maintain certification to operate material handling equipment (forklift, scissor lift, etc.) Knowledge of various welding techniques, including TIG, MIG/PULSE, Stick Knowledge of manual and mechanical welding techniques. Familiarity with equipment and machine tools (torches). Strong attention to detail. Works in a safe manner at all times. Minimum Experience/Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum five (5) years welding/fabrication experience Preferred degree or certificate in Welding/Fabrication or related field. Constant standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, sitting, and climbing. Specific vision capabilities- close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, adjust focus, and good hand and eye coordination. Constantly wear eye and hearing protection (Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required).
