RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESIncluding, but not limited to, the following: Ensure the safety and supervision of a group of children 6 weeks to 2 years of age at all times. Respect the personal rights of children and parents Provide positive behavior guidance that supports the developmental, social-emotional, and physical needs of all students. Provide children with a warm & loving environment Assist in the planning and preparation of the creative learning environment, establishment of interest centers, and preparation of needed material and supplies Effectively communicate, in a timely manner, with parents/guardians to create and foster a positive relationship Works with other teachers on student curriculum, student portfolios and other student requirements Must be reliable/dependable/flexible Must be a team player Consistence attendance Relentless work ethic and be a high energy individual Humanistic, compassionate, and driven Excellent written communication skills Injury Prevention Ensure play, sleep, crib, and changing areas are kept clean Reliable transportation A passion for working with kids & excited by the learning of young children Must follow all CA licensing regulations and Oceanside Shining Stars policies CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND EXPECTATIONS:Including, but not limited to, the following: Provide basic needs for children Help children develop positive self-images and experience success Encourage the exploration of child’s interests Strong classroom management skills Give infants 1:1 time during feedings and as much as possible Record and monitor the daily activities of children in your care Document children progress and goals Updates our electronic App daily Changes diapers, helps with potty breaks and/or potty training Contribute and schedule Parent/Teacher conferences when needed Plan extra curricular activities Develop curriculum, lesson plan, & develop extra-curricular activities Clean and sanitize classroom and materials in classroom daily Wash dishes & classroom materials (i.e. paintbrushes, paint cups, etc.) Clean bathrooms and/or other shared areas throughout the school Must have a warm and friendly personality and the sensitivity to meet the needs of a diverse population. Patience and compassion suitable for working with children Plan special occasion and parent gifts Use assessment testing on children periodically Ability to instruct young children in rules of conduct and learning new tasks Ability to select appropriate teaching method and adapt to children’s learning styles Proficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to the various needs of children and parents Manage decorations of classroom, including updating classroom boards with children’s artwork Work with children one-on-one as much as possible Willingness to learn songs & sing with children Excellent organization and time management skills Ensure materials in classroom are age appropriate Reporting accidents, illness, and unusual behavior to supervisor, as well as adding it to electronic app Promotes the importance of social-emotional learning Feed infants solids at age appropriate times with communication with parents Soothe infants by singing to & cuddling them Supervise infants on the floor as they play with toys Ensure materials in classroom are age appropriate Supervise while they’re sleeping and add notes into electronic app PROFESSIONAL GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT: Including, but not limited to, the following: Take additional classes and attend periodic trainings and monthly meanings Always maintain current pediatric first aide and CPR card Maintain current mandated reporter training Knowledge of appropriate learning psychology, styles, & strategies Knowledge of child development & important age milestones The drive to continue to learn and grow WORKING CONDITIONS: Including, but not limited to, the following: Ability to thrive in a fast paced, always busy environment High stress tolerance - ability to thrive in a high pressure environment Extended periods of time sitting on the floor Ability to bend, stoop, and stand for long periods of time Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
