SUMMARY Under limited supervision, prepares payrolls and maintains time entry records for bi-weekly employees with different deduction and tax treatments. Performs duties needed for the calculation of accurate wages and salaries. Assists with government reporting/compliance. Ensures accounting distribution and preparation of deductions. Coordinates and processes any irregular payments. Works with confidential data on a regular basis and against tight deadlines. Applies analytical skills to resolve moderately complex payroll issues. Serves as primary liaison with supervisors, managers and employees in matters related to time and attendance issues and employee paychecks. EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS High School Diploma (or equivalent) and Associates degree or four years of payroll related experience (or equivalent education, training or experience) required. EXPERIENCE Two to four years knowledge and experience with an automated in house payroll system, Oracle preferred, and an in house time and attendance system, Kronos preferred. Prior experience in finance (accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable) may be substituted for payroll experience. SKILLS Strong technical and analytical abilities to effectively identify and resolve basic payroll system issues required. Basic understanding of accounting principles, payroll taxes and government payroll regulations required. Good understanding of various deductions and tax treatments required. Developed math aptitude. Strong attention to detail. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment as well as having good customer service and communication skills. Reliability in checking own work to ensure accuracy. Basic proficiency in Excel and Word required. Proficiency in payroll systems highly preferred.
