JOB SUMMARYThis position will work closely with the Tax Manager and Director of Tax on all Federal and state tax related activities including the tax provision process, Federal and state tax compliance and planning, Federal and state tax audits, the maintenance of SOX 404 policies and procedures, and assisting in other miscellaneous projects as needed.Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities) * Preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations and related footnote disclosures for review by external auditors. * Preparation of Federal, state and city income tax returns. * Preparation in the calculation of quarterly Federal and state estimated income tax payments. * Preparation of monthly tax account reconciliations and providing cash taxes paid to planning department. * Preparation of Federal, state, and city income estimated tax payments. * Participate in Federal and state income tax audits, including responding to notices and providing information when documentation requests are received. * Performs tax research, including the effects of proposed legislation impacting the company's tax matters. * Coordinates with fixed asset accountant the necessary information for the correct tax depreciation calculations, reviews tax depreciation calculations and schedules for accuracy. * Works alongside internal partners (Internal Audit) in ensuring that key SOX 404 controls are appropriate, maintained, and effective. * Tax planning - works closely with internal partners in certain situations to ensure all parties involved understand tax ramifications (ex. sale of locations, turnkeys, like/kind exchanges) * Works cross-functionally with and support corporate Accounting, Planning, Legal, Payroll, Franchise and other internal business partners on tax and other related matters. * Flexible to work on ad hoc projects as assigned.Education & Experience Requirements * Bachelor's degree in accounting required. Master's degree in tax or CPA preferred. * 3 or more years of tax experience with a large accounting firm.Required Knowledge and Skills * Advanced skill level with Excel, proficient in Word, research software such as Checkpoint, and tax software such as OneSource Income Tax and Tax Provision (a plus). * Strong tax technical and research skills. * Excellent accounting skills. * Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment. * Ability to meet internal and external deadlines and deliver work products accurately and timely. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Excellent organizational skillsDenny's, Inc. is committed to providing equal employment opportunity for all persons regardless of age, race, creed, color, national origin, citizenship status, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, genetic information, military or veteran's status, criminal background, or any other characteristic protected by Federal, State, or local law.
