Job Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Regional Impact Officer, EC-12, the EC-12 Consultant plays a critical role in the collection, analysis, interpretation, presentation, and dissemination of data to support activities across multiple teams to improve student outcomes in early childhood, PK-12, and higher education across Dallas County. The Consultant will have opportunities to develop a wide-ranging skillset through impactful and interesting projects, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. This role will primarily support the work of Commit’s EC-12 teams, Dallas County Superintendent engagement, and EC-12 policy initiatives through data analysis and special projects, with cross-training and collaboration with Commit’s Analytics & Insights team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Data Analysis. Analyze a variety of education and workforce data, both collaboratively and independently, to identify and extract actionable insights (e.g. trends, patterns, root causes) aligned to the Commit Partnership goals. Discovery, collection, tracking, and analysis of new and existing project metrics to inform stakeholder actions. Data Visualization. Develop visual reports and presentations, based on both qualitative and quantitative data, that clearly and easily communicate complex insights for multiple audiences including partners at school districts, higher education institutions, legislators, students, families, and community members. Communication. Create, compile, and edit content for published materials, communications, grant reports/applications, and presentations to multiple audiences. Manage the creation and maintenance of slide decks for various EC-12 convenings, including Superintendent meetings. Collaboration. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and community partners to understand their data needs and provide support and capacity building in fulfilling those requirements. Work extensively in Excel and PowerPoint, with future possibilities of working in data visualization and blending software such as Tableau and Alteryx Performs other duties as assigned. Intermediate proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions and features. Strong data visualization skills, particularly in PowerPoint Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Education and/or Experience Required (Minimum): Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher with a strong academic record Technology Experience: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Preferred: Professional experience in an analytics/insights, education, or nonprofit environment Experience with education data and/or relevant social impact metrics. Language Skills: Ability to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate. Ability to communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. Ability to describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment, and matters in areas of immediate need. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to read and write in Standard English. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. Ability to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds. Ability to listen perceptively and convey awareness. Ability to interact diplomatically with the public in a continuous public contact setting. Ability to work as part of a team and in a team environment. Ability to maintain level-headedness in the face of resistance and contrary opinions. Work Environment: Generally, works in an office environment but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The employee is not exposed to any adverse environmental conditions. Physical Activity & Requirements While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. This is a sedentary position; however, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, grasp, climb, or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift to 10 pounds. Hearing, talking and vision abilities required by this job include perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, expressing or exchanging ideas using the spoken word, and close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading. Job Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, including being available to work in-person at the Commit office at least Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and some local travel to district partner sites.
