Location: This job is located at our main office in New Kensington, PA Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Estimating Department. In this role, you will gain valuable experience in the highway construction industry with a focus on milling, sawing, and sealing projects. You will work alongside experienced estimators to learn the estimating process, from project takeoff to bid preparation. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Successful candidates will be able to perform the following essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. Assist estimators with project takeoff, including collecting and analyzing project plans, specifications, and quantities. Research and gather material and equipment costs for milling, sawing, and sealing projects. Assist in preparing preliminary estimates and cost breakdowns. Learn and utilize estimating software programs. Assist with bid preparation and submittal procedures. Attend project meetings (as needed). Maintain accurate project files and documentation. Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. Ensure the practice of safety standards in accordance with company policies and OSHA. Willingness to perform and learn different aspects of the estimating position. Following instructions from supervisors. Perform all other duties as assigned. Will occasionally be required to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy items and materials. Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl for extended periods or when needed. Ability to effectively communicate in, and understand, English. Required to utilize personal protective equipment (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses & boots) at appropriate times. Workdays & Shifts: Must be able to work Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm. Education/Certification(s)/License(s): High school diploma or GED equivalent - Required. Currently enrolled in a construction management, engineering, or related program (or recent graduate) - Preferred. Valid driver's license - Preferred. Knowledge & Experience: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Other Requirements: Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
