GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This position supports the missions and operations of the Orange County Boy Scouts of America and the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The mission of The Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center is to serve all youth of Orange County by providing quality outdoor educational programs that instill in them an appreciation of the outdoors and the environment, teach effective teamwork, instruct about the cultural history of Orange County, and provide access to the natural resources of the surrounding areas. REQUIREMENTS Minimum age requirement is 21. Must h old a current BSA Aquatics Director National Camping School certification or be able to earn and maintain certification within nine (9) months of hiring Prerequisite: Hold current certification as a BSA or American Red Cross Lifeguard or be able to earn and maintain certification Review all requirements and prerequisites here: https://www.scouting.org/outdoor-programs/national-camping-school/ Maintain certification in Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED Highly desired: Bilingual JOB DUTIES Support the overall operations of the Orange County Boy Scouts of America. Demo nstrate proficient knowledge and implementation of mandated course safety standards and regulations in accordance with American Red Cross , BSA National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP), American Camp Association (ACA), and bes t industry practices. Must be able to maintain physical abilities to uphold certifications and act quickly in emergencies. Responsible for supervising and overseeing aquatics programs and staf f including merit badges, recreational swim , lessons, boating activities, etc. Deliver high quality programming, personify professionalism, and exhibit excellent customer service to all staff and guests of the IROEC . Instructor development and in-service training Assist in overall administration and facilitation of programs as needed. Collaborate with developing and implementing new programs and activities. Complete regular aquatic center inspections and maintenance Maintain and uphold facility standard operating procedures including opening and closing the facility, class tracking, and staff development. Delivery of timely and professional feedback about inventory, personnel or other Participates in IROEC and OCBSA staff meetings, training, and enhancement activities. Assist and facilitate programs and property needs in all areas as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT Working in a camp environment includes providing customer service, solving problems, and cooperation with others, regardless of your title.
