Alcott HR is seeking a skilled and experienced Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Accountant to join our finance team. The FP&A Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting strategic decision-making through financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of accounting principles and financial modeling. Responsibilities: Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights into business performance. Conduct variance analysis to identify key drivers of performance against budgets and forecasts. Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and reports as requested by management. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Collaborate with department heads to gather budget input and assumptions. Develop and maintain long-term financial projections based on business plans and market trends. Monitor budget performance and provide regular updates to management. Investigating Variances: Analyze discrepancies between actual financial results and budget/forecast figures to identify underlying causes. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to investigate variances and provide explanations for management review. Implement corrective actions and recommend process improvements to address identified variances and optimize financial performance. Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making. Evaluate potential business initiatives and investment opportunities through scenario analysis and sensitivity testing. Incorporate projections into financial models to assess the impact of different scenarios on future performance. Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review. Present financial results and analysis to key stakeholders, highlighting areas of concern and opportunities for improvement. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reports in compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency. Recommend and implement changes to financial systems, tools, and procedures to enhance reporting and analysis capabilities. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments across the organization to gather relevant data and insights for financial analysis. Partner with accounting teams to ensure alignment between FP&A activities and financial reporting. Adherence to Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls. Support external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations. Monthly Close and Journal Entries: Assist in the monthly financial close process, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records. Collaborate with the accounting team to review and analyze financial transactions, resolve discrepancies, and address any issues impacting the close process. Maintain documentation of journal entries and supporting schedules in accordance with established accounting standards and internal controls Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. CPA certification preferred. 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or related roles. Proficiency in financial modeling techniques and advanced MS Excel skills. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and trends. Attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting. Ability to effectively communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
