Diocese of Allentown Holy Guardian Angels Regional School, Reading Position Description Job Title: Resource Teacher FSLA : Exempt Job Status : Full-time Reporting Functions: Reports to the School Principal Job Function: The Resource Teacher will be responsible for providing specialized educational support to students, both in the classroom and in small group settings. This position will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, school counselors, and administrators to implement education plans that meet the individual needs of each student. Duties and Responsibilities: Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans for students and monitor their progress throughout the school year. Participate in IEP meetings and other required meetings. Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, school administrators, and parents to ensure that students are receiving appropriate instruction and services. Monitor and modify classroom instruction set by the classroom teacher to ensure that the student is receiving appropriate instruction. Create a safe and calm learning environment for students by implementing a structured classroom. Assist in the supervision of students before and after each school day. This includes recess, lunch, and dismissal. Provide direct instruction, tutoring, and instructional support for students. Knowledge of emergency evacuation routes, school procedures, and regulations for the classrooms assigned. Follow all policies set forth by The Diocese of Allentown and Holy Guardian Angels Regional School. Any other duties as assigned by the Principal or Teacher. Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Education and Special Education. PA Teaching Certification. Must have 2-3 years of teaching experience. Other Requirements: Due to the nature and mission of the Catholic Church, all employees are bound to exhibit respect for the teachings and discipline of the Church in regard to matters of faith and morals. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and modify an educational activity set by the classroom teacher. Must communicate effectively with parents, students, and co-workers in a positive and enthusiastic manner. Possess an understanding of child development and the skills necessary to relate to the students being taught. Ability to handle classroom situations with fairness and patience. Able to maintain a high level of energy. Ability to respond calmly to overwhelming and difficult situations. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, a high degree of credibility, integrity, and self-confidence is essential. PRIOR TO INTERVIEW: Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (at least 1 year old.) As well as attendance at a Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training. Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear; frequent use of equipment including repetitive motions and computer eye fatigue; possible biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, lift and/or move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment; may occasionally climb stairs or ladders. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word: hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. Working Conditions : Classroom setting with working hours of 7:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., 37.5 hours a week, Monday through Friday.
