Description: Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Packaging Engineer to support Lockheed Martin Space Production Operations in Valley Forge, PA! The selected candidate will be part of the Product Protection Engineering team within the Lockheed Martin (LM) Production Engineering & Processes organization.The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of professional experience related to packaging engineering, hazardous materials, dangerous goods regulation, and military packaging and classified hardware.Summary of Key Duties for this position:* Developing Packaging (PHST) Design Solutions and Packaging Preservation Plans (SPIs, PDS, etc.) for critical spacecraft hardware* Development and maintenance of technical drawings, manufacturing work instructions and fabrication plans for use in Packaging and Product Protection initiatives and/or Military Packaging Instructions* Individual will routinely interface and coordinate with Hardware Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Certified Principal Engineers (CPEs), ESH, Traffic Administration and Logistics Engineering to ensure that schedule milestones and deliverables are addressed and achieved* Individual must be comfortable in a production environment, performing technical drawing review and support, managing high-value assets, and assisting with transportation/logistics initiatives. * This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Basic Qualifications: * Active certification in 49CFR and/or IATA, or ability to re-certify upon hire* Applied knowledge and application of Military and Industry standards relating to packaging design, classified products, fabrication and labeling/marking * Applied knowledge of Military Preservation and Packaging specifications/requirements including but not limited to MIL-STD-2073 and related government packaging forms and DIDs (i.e. DD Forms, SPIs, Data Item Descriptions, Packaging, Preservation Plans, etc.)* Experience with Creo Parametric or equivalent CAD software* Demonstrated ability to interpret and adhere to contract and program requirements to meet product deliverables* Top Secret clearance is required prior to start Desired Skills: * Navy OD 67841 NWRM, Vol 1 Policy and Requirements* MIL-STD 130, Identification Marking for U.S. Military Property* OS 8244, Ordnance Specification Preservation, Packaging and Packing Fleet Ballistic Missile System, General Specification* Air Force AFI 20-110 NWRM Management* Air Force published Special Packaging Instructions, Technical Order 11N-35-51.* General Instructions Applicable to Nuclear Weapons, AFI 24-203* Identification Marking of US Military Property, Technical Order 00-20-3* Maintenance Processing of Reparable Property and the Repair Cycle Asset Control, AFI 21-201 and AFI 23-101* Preparing Hazardous Materials for Military Air Shipments, AFMAN 24-204* Defense Transportation Regulation, Part II, DTR 4500.9-R* Ability to manage multiple projects, simultaneously* Experience with classified packaging and shipments* Experience with MIL-STD-129 marking and labeling* Knowledge and application of ASME Y14.5 and Y14.100 drafting standards and practices* 5 or more years' experience with Creo Parametric or equivalent CAD software* Ability to perform static stress calculations in determining shock and vibration attenuation/mitigation* Experience performing and conducting table-top and peer reviews* Experience with process specifications, manufacturing processes and product-specific packaging requirements* Ability to formulate work instructions in the form packaging instructions, and/or manufacturing work instructions* Ability to manage multiple projects, simultaneously, in a dynamic manufacturing environment Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process. Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
