About the Park SchoolThe Park School is a Pre-K to Grade 8 independent school in Brookline, MA dedicated to excellence ineducation. This per diem position is available immediately tocover hours as needed for any specific day. Hours may range from 8am-6pm anytime between Mondaythrough Friday. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an enthusiasm for educating students, faculty and staff,and parents regarding matters of health, wellness, injury/illness prevention, and medical care.Responsibilities● Demonstrate clinical competency in school nursing practice and oversee the health care for students,providing first aid care and medically prescribed support and/or services.● Assess students’ health and refer students to urgent care or emergency room, as necessary.● Be available to communicate by phone and email regarding student health concerns, as necessary.● Maintain confidential records and other relevant health data.● Identify opportunities for coordination with faculty on student health curriculum.● Actively participate on the Faculty & Staff Health & Safety Committee.● Meet expectations as defined by the Park School Employee Essential ExpectationsQualifications● Active nursing license in MA must be current and maintained.● A minimum of a baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university is required.● Awareness and appreciation of a culturally diverse community including racial, ethnic,socioeconomic, language and gender identity diversity.● Ability to maintain electronic medical records.● Current certification in CPR Adult/Child, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).● Certification from the National Board of Certification of School Nurses is valued.● Prior experience working in a school environment is preferred.● Prior experience in triage nursing is valued.● Strong interpersonal skills with students, colleagues, and other adults● High integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality● Proficient or the ability to learn Google tools and other applications as adopted by the schoolPhysical Requirements:● Sit and stand uninterrupted for 30 minutes periods of time.● The ability to traverse on and across variable surfaces (e.g. level flooring, stairs, turf, gravel, asphalt,etc.).● The ability to position oneself (e.g., stand, sit, crouch, and kneel down) in order to support students.● The ability to lift and hold 15 lbs overhead.● The ability to occasionally transport (e.g., move or drag) 25 lbs● The ability to maintain focus and composure in an energetic and, at times, loud environment● The ability to deploy situational awareness to preserve the safety of students and communitymembers.● Must have a valid driver's license to transport students across campus in emergency situationsApplication Information● Please visit Park’s career page to complete an application and upload your resume, cover letter,leadership/philosophy statement.● Competitive salaries and benefits are offered, including a strong professional development program.● An equal opportunity employer and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion,national or ethnic origin, ancestry, sex, disabilities, sexual orientation, gender identity and expressionor family composition or any other status protected by applicable law in the administration of itsemployment, education, admission, financial aid, and other policies and programs.● We welcome candidates who will add to the diversity of our community and who have demonstrateda commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in their teaching and learning.● Job applicants must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
