Who We Are: Join the Data Analysis Software group of the Space Research Department as a full-stack development intern. We develop web-based applications and interfaces for NASA missions and space scientists enabling more efficient and effective research. Objectives of this Role: Collaborate on innovative web applications using LAMP, CakePHP, and Javascript frameworks. Contribute to the development of full-stack interactive web apps (PHP, HTML, CSS) for NASA missions, including Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), Lucy, and Europa Clipper. Engage in the engineering of mission-support software for flyby planning, data processing & visualization, and access control management. Create applications encompassing data processing (Python), data visualization, UI/UX, database management, and web applications to fulfill customer mission requirements. Proactively communicate with project mentors, provide status updates, and tackle challenges with critical thinking. Daily and Monthly Responsibilities: Assist in the development of web applications using PHP and/or Javascript. Proactively work with experienced Web Developers, Graphics Designers, Computer Scientists and Physicists to develop advanced web-based solutions. Assist in the implementation of proofs of concept, prototypes, and deployed web applications while creating unit tests and documentation. Meet with direct Supervisor and provide status reports of progress, problems encountered, and possible solutions. Requirements: Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering. PHP skills expected (frameworks like Laravel or CakePHP preferred) with the ability to work with databases, Javascript libraries, and Docker. Familiarity with software development on Windows and Linux operating systems. Exposure to or interest in Docker/containerization concepts and tools.
