The candidate will advise city leaders on a range of legal matters and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws impacting municipalities. Duties:Advise city leaders on ethics, personnel, ordinances, contracts, land use, taxes, and finance matters.Stay informed on changes to local, state, and federal laws affecting municipalities.Draft city ordinances and contracts.Review contracts and memoranda to protect the city’s legal interests.Attend city council meetings and other city meetings as requested, including night meetings.Respond to client inquiries promptly via phone, email, or in-person meetings.Facilitate real estate development and draft related documents.Handle litigation on behalf of the city, including court advocacy. Requirements:Admitted to practice law in Minnesota and in good standing.3-5 years of experience in municipal representation or equivalent relevant experience preferred. Education and Certifications:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to practice law in Minnesota. Skills:Excellent interpersonal communication skills.Attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong time management and prioritization abilities.
