Position Overview: This is an exciting opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of families dealing with an Alzheimer's diagnosis or dementia symptoms.The Director of Major Gifts plays a pivotal role in securing financial support from major donors to advance the mission and goals of Alzheimer's Los Angeles. Under the supervision of the Chief Philanthropy Officer, this position involves cultivating and stewarding relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations to secure significant philanthropic contributions. In addition, this position will help develop strategies for the development and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising campaign. The Director of Major Gifts will collaborate closely with the development team and executive leadership to develop and executive major gift strategies.The ideal candidate is an innovative self-starter who loves connecting with people.Alzheimer's Los Angeles offers a supportive team environment and a hybrid working environment (mostly remote with some in office work).To be considered, please provide both your resume and a cover letter explaining your interest and qualifications. Responsibilities Donor Cultivation and Relationship Management Identify and research potential major donors, corporations, and foundations. Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with major donors through personalized engagement and stewardship strategies. Develop tailored cultivation and stewardship plans for each major donor, ensuring alignment of their philanthropic interests with the organization's mission. Major Gift Solicitation Develop and execute strategies for soliciting major gifts, including preparing compelling proposals and presentations. Collaborate with the development team to organize and participate in donor meetings, parlor meetings and other donor solicitation events. Effectively communicate the impact and outcomes of major gifts to donors. Maintain an active portfolio of 150 major gifts prospects. Prospect Research and Analysis Conduct thorough research on potential major donors to understand their interests, giving capacity, and philanthropic history. Develop individualized donor/prospect profiles and strategies for cultivation and stewardship. Analyze data to segment donors and tailor fundraising strategies accordingly. Stewardship and Recognition Develop and implement donor recognition and stewardship programs to ensure major donors feel appreciated and connected to the organization. Coordinate events and activities designed to engage major donors. Collaboration and Reporting Collaborate with the development team to align major gift efforts with overall fundraising goals. Maintain accurate donor records in the organization's database and generate reports on major gift progress and results. Provide regular updates to executive leadership and board members regarding major gift fundraising efforts. Compliance and Ethics Ensure all major gift activities comply with relevant laws and ethical standards. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism in donor interactions. Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising with a focus on major gifts. Proven track record of successfully securing major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and corporate partnerships preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and multi-phase projects simultaneously from inception to completion. Demonstrated skill in problem solving and using judgement in situations requiring independent decision making. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and writing skills. Strong research and analytical skills. Proficiency in using donor management software and databases. Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising best practices and ethical standards.
