TITLE Associate Lab Tech, Plasmids WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE The Associate Lab Tech will join our Plasmid Lab team in order to process newly received plasmids and prepare plasmids for customer orders. These contributions will allow the Plasmid Lab to make important strides toward contributing to accelerate research in the scientific community. POSITION REPORTS TO Lab Tech II, Media Lead APPROXIMATE START DATE Q2 2024 SALARY $40,000-42,000 annually LOCATION & POLICY ON REMOTE WORK This position will work out of our Watertown, Massachusetts Headquarters. Our beautiful office space has ample parking with a free shuttle from Harvard Square and is on multiple bus lines, with the cost of public transit covered by Addgene. In joining our team as an “Addgenie”, you will work with multidisciplinary internal teams to help fulfill this mission, including scientists, software engineers and product developers, renowned customer support teams, marketing gurus, and business development professionals. Together, Addgenies create and enhance opportunities for research scientists to deposit their materials, find products and resources easily on our website, and receive unparalleled support in receiving and expertly using our materials in their own experiments. To Succeed in this Role, You Will: Assist Lab Technicians with routine work related to standard or non-standard plasmid intake tasks, viral or antibody aliquoting/storage, making specialized reagents. Perform manual transformation under guidance of Plasmid Lab Tech Prepare liquid and solid media, antibiotics, and other common reagents Organize and maintain glassware including washing and autoclave activities Clean/maintain work area and lab equipment and restock supplies as needed Create stabs for order fulfillment Utilize custom built tracking software to assist with order fulfillment Skills and Competencies Associates degree/Certificate in Biological Sciences with 0-2 years experience Certificate in Biotechnology or related field considered Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques required Excellent interpersonal skills; both verbal and written are essential Self-motivated, organized, able to work independently Life at Addgene: Addgene prides itself on being a truly special place to work.
