The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing, filing, and prosecuting patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office, conducting prior art searches, performing patentability analysis, and engaging in IP due diligence. Additionally, the role involves practice development activities, client relationship management, and providing substantive client correspondence.Duties:Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark OfficeConduct prior art searches and analysisPerform patentability analysisEngage in IP due diligenceDevelop and maintain client relationships through practice development activitiesPrepare substantive client correspondenceInstruct local counsel for foreign filings and Office ActionsAssist in patent clearance studies and other patent-related opinion projectsApply advanced concepts in life sciences fields, particularly molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistryStudy and analyze scientific or technical documents, including previously published patent documents, to assess patentability, novelty, and inventivenessConvert prior provisional applications into utility applicationsConvert foreign filed applications into U.S. applicationsConvert U.S. applications into foreign applicationsRequirements:Bachelor’s degree (or graduate degree) preferably in electrical engineering; degrees in computer science, physics, computer engineering, or mechanical engineering will be considered2 years of experience prosecuting or examining patent applications in the electrical arts, preferably display and battery technology and opticsRegistered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office or eligible to sit for the USPTO patent agent examExcellent writing and research abilitiesProficiency in written and verbal communicationStrong organizational skillsEducation and Certifications:Bachelor’s degree (or graduate degree) preferably in electrical engineeringRegistered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office or eligible to sit for the USPTO patent agent examSkills:Advanced understanding of life sciences fields, particularly molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistryProficiency in prior art searches and patentability analysisStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational abilitiesAbility to develop and maintain client relationshipsExperience with patent prosecution in electrical arts, preferably display and battery technology and optics
