In this role, you'll be at the forefront of crafting visually compelling content, utilizing your expertise in Adobe CS to bring Adult and Kids nonfiction books to life. The location for this position can be based in any of the following states: IL, MN, WI, CT, MD, NJ, NY, NV, NC, OR, PA, TX, TN, AZ, WA. This role may include occasional travel to meetings at the home office in Naperville, IL. Production Designer Responsibilities: Use technical proficiency in the Macintosh OSX platform along with capability in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop to help build compelling interior templates for a slate of prescriptive non-fiction books. Flow text styled with XML tags into InDesign templates, correctly formatting all internal elements; prepare pages for internal review and proofreading. Set up master pages, style sheets, and colors in InDesign. Make corrections with a high degree of accuracy based on feedback from cross-functional partners. Preflight and QC files before their release to printer, ensuring that files are error-free. Troubleshoot any file issues that arise during preflight to improve file accuracy. Archive all production assets in our DAM using existing naming and file format conventions. Assist with reprint corrections and conversion of existing files based on printer requirements. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: A degree in a graphic design or related field: must have Coursework in Graphic Design, Typography, Visual Communication, and Illustration A commitment to ongoing learning and the ability to follow through on feedback. Innovative thinking coupled with a high attention to detail. The ability to troubleshoot technical problems that may arise within InDesign. Thorough understanding of file types and their attributes (EPS, INDD, QXD, PSD, TIF, JPEG, and so on). A love of books - this is a requirement to support our mission of changing the lives of readers.
