SUMMARY The Facilities Services Worker is responsible for keeping the interior and exterior areas of Civic Theatre and Balboa Theatre in a safe, sanitized, and well stocked condition. They will also maintain the office areas at the San Diego Theatres Corporate offices located in the City Center Building. Service Workers also assist with setup of equipment and furniture to support and enhance the activities specific to the events and operation of the organization. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned. Maintain a safe work environment for the employees and guests. Maintain the clean and sanitized condition of restrooms, lobbies, seating areas, backstage dressing and support areas, and exterior entrances. Cleaning techniques may include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and wiping of surfaces. Make frequent checks in all restrooms to keep each area sanitary and well stocked with hand soap and paper products. Clean all windows and glass in the buildings (with the exception of the Grand Salon chandelier and all exterior windows above the lobby). Stock, organize, and clean janitorial closets. Maintain proper care of equipment and supplies. Empty trash, recycle, and garbage containers, and dispose of all items in the proper waste dumpsters and compactors. Move, set, and restore equipment and furniture including, but not limited to, tables, chairs, and pipe and drape. Assist with customer service and engagement by answering guests questions regarding the facility. Promptly report any equipment, fixture, or area of the venue in need of repair or maintenance to supervisor. Assist in the preparation of work orders as needed. Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work on a team Strong communication skills and ability to relay information to team members and supervisors. Possess exceptional ethics, honesty, and integrity with regards to professional behavior and confidentiality. Ability to work independently, and complete tasks in a timely manner. Ability to read directions, plans, and maps to determine venue set ups. Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Previous housekeeping or custodial maintenance required. GED or High School diploma required. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to communicate in the English language in both verbal and written forms a plus. Proficiency in floor care a plus. This requires the ability to operate floor buffers, power sweeping equipment, extractors, shampooing equipment, and other housekeeping equipment. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Certifications for Housekeeping trainings a plus. Certified or ability to become certified in scissor lift operations and other heavy duty equipment a plus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. When performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to: The employee must be able to speak, and hear with or without a hearing assistance device Modulate voice for effective communication Climb steps repeatedly Descend/ascend ramps and inclines/declines Stand for long periods of time Work in a fast-paced, busy environment, conditions such as noise, heights, dark/dim/absence of lighting Use hands to press, finger, handle and feel tools or objects, reach with hands and arms Ability to bend, stretch, reach and kneel. Ability to frequently lift, hold, and move 40lbs, and occasionally lift, hold, and move up to 80lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Qualifications
