Our Global Operations Team - all business professionals of the firm - was named the "Best Business Team" by The American Lawyer .As a leader of the Firm, Director, Accounting, reporting to the Managing Director, Finance, will work closely with the firm's leadership teams to develop a strong, accurate and timely regulatory reporting framework supporting the firm as a whole, its departments, as well as its Partners. Adhering to accepted accounting principles and the firm's accounting policies and procedure, this individual will ensure the data integrity of firm accounting data. What You Will Do: Thinks Strategically : understands the firm's strategy, along with specific business issues and opportunities, and creates and articulates a plan of action aligned with that strategy. Ensures efficient, effective and consistently high-quality results in all aspects of the Firm's accounting operations including financial reporting and processing functions for US and international offices.Stay current on changes to regulations in all jurisdictions and recommend processes to ensure compliance. Drives for Results: maintains focus and holds themselves and other individuals in the organization accountable for executing against plan and achieving challenging business results.Owns the maintenance and control of the Firm's integrated accounting/time and billing system. Working closely with Director, Financial systems to ensure our controls are managed effectively by our system design for all transactions in all potential accounting configurationsAssumes lead role in managing the yearend review with external audit/review team for all offices.Collaborates with Director of Tax to produce and reconcile the Partnership tax schedules.Works closely with the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis to prepare schedules for the firm's annual budget.Designs, develops and implements methods and strategies to continually improve accounting processes. Executive Presence : ability to convey leadership, appropriate messaging tone and content at the highest levels of the firm (MC, EC and BU Leadership).Provides actionable insights to senior leadership, makes recommendations, and helps support 'optimal' business decision making.Demonstrates a commitment to excellence across all areas of responsibility, including client service, team leadership, and functional deliverables. Shows confidence in expressing a point of view and in taking a stand; raising and addressing challenging issues with respectful candor. Builds Networks: effectively communicates across the firm, fostering alignment, collaboration, and cross-functional results. Recognized by BU Leadership and Executive Leadership as a strategic business partner.Works closely with other Directors within the Global finance team to consistently update the systems and improve processes for better accuracy and compliance in light of new regulations.Partners with international finance staff to implement standardized processes/approaches in order to meet the needs of the firm overall, balanced with the needs of international jurisdictions. Develops Talent: prioritizes the development, training, and appropriate delegation of new activities to team members. Develops strong management capability among current and future leaders on the team.Actively looks to promote team members and provide opportunities for stretch assignments and exposure.Leads the Accounting teams and makes decisions on staffing and performance management. Provides training, feedback, and coaching to team members, and delegates work appropriately. Who You Are: Bachelor's degree in Finance or Business Administration. CPA designation or MBA is desirable.Minimum 8+ years of related financial management experience preferably in a professional services organization.Excellent interpersonal and team building skills with the ability to establish rapport and effectively work with colleagues of all levels. Demonstrated ability to proactively and professionally manage internal client relationships with an emphasis on producing results in a client focused/service orientated manner. Superior written and verbal communication skills; the ability to interact diplomatically with partners, senior management, peers and professional staff; communicating with impact to clearly convey context and insight, so as to effectively manage upward to influence decisions.Outstanding organizational skills and a demonstrated ability of maintaining and producing high quality work product with minimal oversight. Ability to take initiative, making constructive recommendations on how the department can deliver high levels of service. Ability to apply effective strategy to business considerations weighing firm/department goals with an eye toward the big picture and the firm-wide impact.Experience with International operations; including working within multi-currency ledgers. Ability to effectively manage intra-departmental and potentially firm-wide projects being budget conscientious.
