Pay Range: $17.51-$19.31/hourFTE: 1.0(37.5 hrs/week)Schedule: M-F 8:30am-5:00pmFLSA Status: Non-ExemptLocation: The Dalles/Hood River Mid-Columbia Center for Living (MCCFL) is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) that specializes in providing services that are both trauma-informed and recovery-oriented to persons/ consumers with mental illness and addictions. Trauma-informed care includes safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness and empowerment for both clients and staff. MCCFL serves Hood River, Wasco and Sherman Counties and utilizes a consumer-involved, consumer-engaged and consumer-driven model. MCCFL provides a whole-person care approach to adults and children to address both physical and mental health needs. MCCFL offers a variety of programs including a mobile crisis unit, intensive case management, ongoing counseling, community support, supported employment, jail diversion, hospital discharges, hearings and more. General Statement of Responsibilities: The Peer Support - Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) provides peer support to clients who may be experiencing substance abuse issues in the community. This position facilitates contact with providers, assists with transportation issues and other issues that may be barriers to accessing treatment and/or support in the community. The Certified Recovery Mentor provides training in independent living skills, documents client progress and issues, and conducts program outreach as necessary. The Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide peer recovery support to individuals as a member of the MAT team. In addition, this position involves participation and implementation of program goals and objectives by providing a set of non-clinical activities that will promote a strengths-based, wellness-informed, client centered approach to assisting individuals being served in achieving person-driven goals. The Recovery Mentor will advocate for the individual and support them to pursue their personal goals and individual wellness journey. As such, the structure and activities promote client driven goals established on the service plan. It is essential that the Recovery Mentor openly identify as a person who has lived the experience of being in recovery from substances. Essential Responsibilities: The following list represents the essential responsibilities of the position. It does not include all of the duties the position may be asked to perform. Meet regularly with consumers; train consumers in independent living skills and model same behaviors. Advocate on behalf of consumers and promote self-advocacy Maintain consumer and recovery-oriented networks in the community. Conduct outreach activities in local communities. Communicate with treatment team about problems or concerns; participate in on-going support network with other Certified Recovery Mentors and substance use professional staff. Participate in team meetings with other MCCFL Certified Recovery Mentor and volunteers. Provide coverage for other Certified Recovery Mentors as needed. Ensure that safety procedures are followed. While this description is intended to accurately reflect the activities and requirements of the Peer Support Certified Recovery Mentor position, management reserves the right to modify, add or remove duties as necessary. Position Specific Essential Responsibilities: Work alongside team members and other program staff in order to best support the client’s goals. Communicate with MAT treatment team about problems or concerns; participate in ongoing support network with other Peer Support Specialists. Participate in team meetings with other MCCFL Peer Support Specialists and volunteers. Actively participate in joint case planning and coordination with internal multi-disciplinary team and agency psychiatrists. Provide timely and accurate clinical documentation utilizing Agency clinical software system; this includes treatment records, service plans, progress notes and other required documentation. Maintain the integrity of the electronic records system within the scope of practice. Ensure that safety procedures are followed. Regular and reliable attendance. Participate in all MAT team and agency meetings as scheduled. Job Specification: Qualifying experience and training typically include a high school diploma or GED. The successful applicant must hold or be able to obtain within a reasonable time frame, a MHACBO certification as a Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM). Because the services provided by the position are through a peer-to-peer model, preference may be given to individuals who have sustained recovery experiences and/or individuals who possess a “lived” experience dealing with substance use disorder, treatment and/or the legal system. Such experience does not, however, in itself constitute a guarantee of employment and confidentiality of is prioritized. Must possess a valid Oregon or Washington Driver's License, maintain an acceptable driving record and be insurable for client service purposes and for travel between business office for meetings and/or trainings. This position must pass all criminal history check requirements as required by ORS 181.536 to 181.537, and in accordance with OAR 407-007-XXXX to 407-007-XXXX. OTHER REQUIRED Position Specific Job Specification: Experience with Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), is preferred Some work experience working with adults with substance abuse challenges is preferred. Preference may be given to individuals who possess a “lived” experience dealing with psychiatric disabilities. Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge : Knowledge of symptoms and challenges faced by people with substance use disorders; knowledge of assessment and referral processes and procedures; knowledge of MCCFL-based and other community-based services; treatment and service terminology; knowledge of treatment/service planning; knowledge of medical records maintenance. Skill : Good interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic. Skill in the use of clinical software systems; skill in the use of standard office software; skill in keyboarding. Ability : Ability to understand and effectively apply the concepts and practices of a trauma-informed philosophy in performing the work. Ability to work within strong professional ethics and rules of confidentiality to provide effective services to clients. Ability to effectively work with clients to encourage and facilitate engagement in the treatment process; ability to effectively advocate for the rights of consumers of mental health services. Ability to maintain a strong service orientation; ability to write and maintain timely and cogent notes, reports and other professional documents; ability to organize and execute work effectively under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines Ability to work with grace and good humor under pressure and to meet multiple deadlines. Ability to work cooperatively with other departments and service providers; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and within trauma informed care guidelines. Ability to maintain proper professional boundaries; ability to establish and maintain harmonious work relationships with co-workers at all levels of the organization, consultants, contractors, community partners, and consumers. Leadership Received : This position works under the leadership of the Clinical Supervisor. Physical Demands : While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; talk and hear; use hands and fingers and handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position may be required to drive locally and regionally to transport clients and provide services in the community. Work Environment : This position provides services at various locations in Hood River and Wasco Counties. Work is performed in various settings, including clinic/program environment, community settings and other agency stakeholder facilities. The office environment is typically with moderate stimuli and may often result in exposure to increased sensory experiences. Community settings, such as residential, schools, police precincts, respite facilities, hospitals and other public spaces may pose additional risks or discomforts which require safety precautions. Incumbents are expected to perform work responsibilities in the same settings in which employees are required to work. This position is required to drive for travel between offices and counties. The employee must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable for the use of agency vehicles.
